Natural Cosmetics Day 2024: Three good reasons why you should use natural cosmetics for your make-up now
Every year, November 23rd is dedicated to natural and sustainable cosmetics. As an initiative of NATURE, the International Association for Natural and Organic Cosmetics, theWorld day forLaunched in 2019. This day is intended to raise awareness of quality and...sustainabilitystrengthen in the beauty industry, honor – and highlight the natural beauty. And why not take the opportunity to dispel some of the myths and prejudices about natural cosmetics?
The good news: More and more beauty brands are relying on natural ingredients, environmentally friendly production and fair working conditions. This means that anyone who switches to natural cosmetics is not just doing their own thingsomething good, but also helps to reduce the ecological footprint. Our natural resources are the basis of all life, and especially now, in times of energy crisis and raw material shortages, conscious use of them is more important than ever. Sustainable cosmetics are not just a trend, but can be a small step with a big impact.
When it comes to creams, shampoo and shower gel, more people are now turning to natural products. But with sustainableThere are still many reservations. So here are three really good reasons whydecorative natural cosmeticsis a worthwhile choice.
How good are decorative natural cosmetics really?
The clichés surrounding decorative natural cosmetics have persisted for years. It is said, for example, that sustainable cosmetics are not as opaque or even more expensive than conventional make-up. In order to finally dispel these prejudices, we haveOrganic Make-up Artist Lisa Scharffasked a few questions on the occasion of Natural Cosmetics Day. She uses decorative natural cosmetics every day in her job and explains them in her cosmetic studio. Because natural make-up has a lot to offer! These three reasons say it all.
3 reasons why you should use natural cosmetics for your make-up now
1. Decorative natural cosmetics care
“A big advantage of natural cosmetics is that, in addition to their performance, the products also have a high care factor. It feels less 'made up'. This is also the feedback I often hear from customers. A lot of work is done with high-quality vegetable oils or waxes. One could even say,is an 'extended' care routine. And a really good one. This is because ingredients that are considered critical for the skin, health or the environment are avoided - such as microplastics or sometimes silicones, mineral oils, certain preservatives, PEGs, perfume (synthetic fragrances), etc. In short: in decorative natural cosmetics there is only good in it, and you can feel it. “I just love the feeling of organic make-up on the skin,” explains expert Lisa Scharff.
2. Organic make-up can also perform
When it comes to performance, decorative natural cosmetics are still said to be worse - not as opaque, less intense colors, lack of selection... Is that really still the case? “Yes and no. In the decorative sector, the texture or a lack of color selection are often criticized. However, a lot has happened here, especially in the last few years. There are now super silky and well-pigmented lipsticks and eyeshadows; Mascaras that create great volume or concealers that provide reliable coverage without drying out the skin. When it comes to colors - whether it's lipstick, eye shadow or even blush - the selection is large and varied. Of course, there are also small 'problem areas': these would be, for example, waterproof products or 'long-lasting' lipsticks or foundations. “This doesn’t yet exist as we know it from the conventional decorative cosmetics sector,” reveals organic make-up artist Lisa Scharff.
Tipp:
“The topic is also difficult‘Primer’– because these often consist largely of pure silicone and lie like a film on the skin. There are now a few natural cosmetic primers, but I am always of the opinion: onegood careis the be-all and end-all and the very best primer for natural cosmetic make-up!”
3. Decorative natural cosmetics look modern and chic
The expert also believes that natural products are visually appealing: “There are still a lot of prejudices, but the time of the 'dusty' eco-look is clearly over! I’m really seeing more and more great brands whose products not only score points with their ingredients, but also with their packaging and clean, modern design.”
