Perfect sun protection: You should know these errors

Table of contents

We love vacation by the sea and especially in the sun. If there were not the harmful UV rays that not only cause sunburn, but also promote skin aging and increase the risk of cancer.

You don't want to do without a healthy vacation tan? Then you should definitely protect your skin with sunscreen. So that you no longer happen to you and you can protect your skin in the best way, we have collected the seven biggest sunscreen scraps for you and show you how better.

Error 1: just apply cream when the sun is shining

Even if the sun is hiding behind the clouds, the harmful UV rays unfortunately reach our skin. Therefore, you should apply suitable sun protection even with a covered sky. This also applies to the cold season. Incidentally, there are also sunscreens with a pro-melanin extract that provide a beautiful and, above all, healthy tan, such as Nivea.

Error 2: the sunscreenFrom the pastYearIs still good

Sunscreen is usually unopened for about 30 months. So if you have found an unused product from the previous year, you don't need to throw it away right away.

However, it looks different if you have already opened the packaging. Always pay attention to the Pao symbol (PerodeAfterOpening). The symbol shows a crucible with an open lid, plus a number and the letter 'M'. The inscription '12m' then means, for example, that the cream should be consumed 12 months after the first opening. Accordingly, you should rather dispose of the crawled cream from last year. The same applies to sprays and gels.

Good to know:In many sunscreens, the ingredient is contained. This can convert to benzophenon after the best -before date of twelve months - and this fabric is suspected of being carcinogenic. There is also explicit sunscreen without octocrylas, such as the Waterlover-Sonnnenmilch from Biotherm.

Error 3: once cream is enough

As a rule of thumb, apply the sun protection best 20 minutes before sunbathing. But how often should you apply it afterwards? Many manufacturers state that a one -off application with their product is completely sufficient.

However, dermatologists advise you to apply on regular intervals. Because by the moisture when sweating or sweating, the effect of the sun protection can decrease. If you want to be on the safe side when it comes to sunbathing, repeat the cream every two hours.

But be careful:The sun protection factor (LSF) cannot be increased by applying it.

Error 4: less is more

You shouldn't spill with sunscreen, but prefer to clog out. The following applies here: more is more. Unfortunately there is no rule of thumb for the ideal amount because it depends on your size and weight. If in doubt, you should apply too much than too little.

If you tend to go to allergic skin, you can also use extra sun protection for allergy sufferers. The sun milk from Ladival is recommended, for example.

Error 5: Make-up with sun protection factor does it too

A foundation with sun protection is sufficient and for days that we mostly spend in the office. But especially in the hot summer time, the fine foundation layer is not enough to protect the skin from the sun in the best possible way.

Therefore, you should invest in a good sunscreen, especially adapted to the facial skin. If you want to do everything right and don't want to take a risk of UV protection, you can easily replace your day cream in the summer months with a sunscreen especially for the face. And don't panic: there are now many products that do not grease or leave a white film on the skin.

Our favorites currently include the sun protection products from La Roche-Posay. For example, the Invisible fluid is perfect for particularly sensitive skin. It quickly moves into the skin and protects with an SPF 50 from light -related skin aging and cell damage.

By the way:If you wear sun protection on the face, it does not mean that you have to do without make-up. Simply apply the sun protection first and then the make-up. Important: The lips also need protection. There are lip care pencils with a sun protection factor, for example by Annemarie Börlind.

Error 6: Waterproof sunscreen still protects after swimming

Many rely on the addition of 'waterproof' on the packaging and do not take up again after the hearty jump into the cool water. But warn dermatologists:The longer you stay in the water, the faster the sun protection is lost. There is no absolutely waterproof sunscreen! It is therefore important to apply the skin back in after bathing.

If you are looking for a sun protection that you can spray directly about your make-up and the thanks to hyaluronic acid is particularly nourishing and refreshing, then take a look around the Garnier house. There is the Ambre Solaire Super UV over make-up spray with sun protection factor 50 for daily application.

Error 7: I am protected all day with a light protection factor 30

How long you can stay in the sun without worry depends on the sun protection factor and skin type. LSF 30 means that the creamed skin is protected up to 30 times longer than the self-protection time has to offer. For example, people with particularly light skin have a self -protection period of about ten minutes. Creamed with a sun protection with SPF 30, the sun would end after 300 minutes. Always assumed, of course, you have creamed yourself with a sufficient amount of the product and checked it regularly, especially after swimming.

If you want to maintain the stressed skin after extensive sunbathing, you can use after-sun lotions, such as the natural cosmetics brand Lavera.
