Öko test tested shower creams for their ingredients. But which products could convince and which not? We'll tell you.
Showering without shower gel is like fries food without Mayo or ketchup - something is missing. We all agree on this point - regardless of whether you prefer to jump in the shower in the morning or refresh yourself in the evening. Because a shower cream or a similar product is simply part of body hygiene.
No wonder that the selection is particularly large. With hardly any other beauty product there are as many different fragrance directions as with the shower cream. But one should all: clean the body without drying too much. On the contrary, the more care and moisture for the skin, the better.
But we often ask ourselves: Are the shower gels really that good? Öko test checked it and took a close look at 40 different products and brands. Do the active ingredients or do they harm the skin? Because many fragrance and ingredients can irritate the skin and trigger allergies.
We show you which shower gel Öko test could convince and which unfortunately did not work well in the test.
Sante, Lavera and Co: These shower creams are test winners
With the shower gel we love to try different fragrance directions. While lemon fragrance notes refresh and wake, for example, lavender or ylang ylang are wonderfully calming. But often it is exactly these fragrances that can irritate the skin and trigger allergies.
In theTest edition 08.2022 has ÖKO testA total of 40 shower gels checked for questionable ingredients. The result: A total of 16 products with the top grade "very good" cut off. We are of course pleased, because we have all the more choice when looking for a new shower cream.

Many other cheap shower gels from the drugstore and supermarket have also received a top rating, such as the Cien Nature Shower Gel Bio-Citrus (Lidl) or the Bevola Naturales Shower Gel Bio-Eucalyptus & Bio-Bergamot (Kaufland). The Alterra Nursing shower Bio-Rose (Rossmann) and the Balea Natural Beauty, invigorating shower gel bio-hemp seed (DM) are also very far ahead.

Eco test: These shower gels have failed
For many people, a soothing fragrance belongs to the shower gel. It is problematic that some of these ingredients can lead to skin reactions. In the test, the shower creams were therefore carefully checked and also whether the respective fragrances are correctly declared.
Often critical ingredients also arise from residues in manufacturing. Just as questionable: PEG connections that should not be contained in shower gels according to the eco test. Unfortunately, three products could therefore not convince.

This includes the shower cream Olive & Milk from Palmolive Naturals. Also the Freshness Shower Gel from Algemarin. Both products received the test grade "insufficient". The Hydra care nursing shower Aloe & Birkenwasser from Dove also cut off very badly with a "poor".
In addition to PEG derivatives, the testers also found halogen organic compounds that are suspected of being able to trigger allergies or even cancer. To be on the safe side, it is better to shop the shower gel test winners, because here too you have enough selection.
