Huawei has launched its latest attempt to dethrone Apple's iPhone and Samsung's S-series as kings of the smartphone world with its high-end P30 and P30 Pro smartphones. The two new top smartphones from the world's second largest phone manufacturer - the Huawei P30 series - were presented yesterday in Paris. The event, which went viral on social media with the hashtag #RewriteTheRules, was broadcast live on Huawei's YouTube channel. The official market launch in Germany is April 8, 2019.
Huawei introduces the new P30 series
The P30 has a 6.1-inch screen and the P30 Pro has a 6.47-inch display. The P30 Pro is IP68 waterproof and dustproof. In Germany, the Huawei P30 Pro will be available in the colors Aurora (blue), Amber Sunrise (orange), black and Breathing Crystal (white-blue).

The lowlight camera is something Huawei is particularly proud of. The company claims it has been working with German camera maker Leica for the past three years to develop a lens that is four times more light sensitive than last year's model, which already worked great at lowlight. This means you can capture incredible images even in the dark.
The fourth lens on the back of the P30 Pro is not really used for taking photos, but is a so-called time-of-flight lens (TOF camera). This measures the distance of light between objects and helps create a 3D map of your surroundings. Huawei says it helps enable more realistic portrait mode photos. Another area where this lens is useful is when using augmented reality (AR) apps. There's also a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front of the smartphone, which allows for beautiful, sharp selfies.
The P30 comes with a 3,650mAh battery and the P30 Pro comes with a 4,200mAh battery. Both batteries support thisSuperCharge-Ladenwith Super Fast 40W, enabling a 70 percent charge in just 30 minutes.
The Huawei P30 costs 749 euros. The price for the Huawei P30 Pro starts at 999 euros for the 128 GB model and rises to 1099 euros for the 256 GB variant.
