Inflate balloons to reach desired size. If you plan to fill the eggs with candies and sundries, make sure the balloons are big enough to hold them. Prepare your adhesive by mixing 2 parts white glue with 1 part water. Cut or tear strips of newspaper about 4 inches (10 cm) long and 2 inches (5 cm) wide.

Dip the newspaper strips into the glue and stick them onto the balloon. Leave an opening large enough for the candy. Cover the entire surface of the balloon and then apply a second coat. Leave it dry for at least 6 hours or ideally overnight.

Pop the balloons. Fill the egg with candy. Place tape over the opening and apply another layer of papier-mâché over the entire balloon. Let it dry again. Now you can decorate the papier-mâché Easter eggs. You can paint the egg like a traditional egg, or use glitter, ribbon, and other embellishments.

You can also make the papier-mâché Easter eggs smaller. Therefore, you need to take smaller round balloons and of course inflate them just a little. Cover the resulting opening with very small pieces of paper. Additionally strengthen the area with several layers of paper. Let them dry well and the next day prepare an eye pin screw for each egg. Carefully screw this into the tip of the egg to do this laterto be able to hang up.

After the homemade Easter eggs have completely dried, you can treat them with any type of watercolor. Optionally, they can be primed in white or another light color and then decorated colorfully using the napkin technique. For the perfect finish, we recommend applying a layer of varnish, preferably water-based.
