If you are looking for something very cool and classy, take a look at these sensational silver Halloween pumpkins. The fruits have been decorated with silver metallic effect paint and then intricate designs with glittering glass crystal stones have been added. Everything you need is available in good department stores. These take a small amount of skill and effort to be created, but if you have a steady hand and some patience you can achieve beautiful effects like these. Of course, it would also be easy to use gold paint for an equally magnificent effect.
Here's how to make them yourself:
There are two basic methods for creating these decorative pumpkins. The first technique is perhaps the simplest, but is also not the most durable.
To make the silver pumpkins you will need metallic spray paint. The featured designer recommends aluminum paint to achieve the same effect as shown in the pictures. If you prefer gold pumpkins, replace them with a gold color. You will also need templates or stencils to supply suitable designs for your work. You will need a fine felt tip pen and strong, quick glue. An assortment of craft gemstones and perhaps metallic threads provide the finishing touches.
Preparation:Make sure you have a clean and dust-free workspace. Lay out all materials in advance and place protective paper on the surfaces to prevent damage to your metallic paint and adhesive.
STEP 1:Wipe any dust or dirt from your pumpkins or calabashes and then spray with 2 coats of metallic paint. Be careful and read the instructions on the paint can. If you spray too much at once you can get unwanted drips and weakness.
STEP 2: When the metallic paint is completely dry, you need to mark your design. For this you need the fine felt-tip pen and use a stencil or template for correct lines. Planning your designs in advance is important to ensure you don't paint out of outline.
Step 3:When you're happy with the layout of your design, the time comes to insert your gemstones (or other decorative materials like metallic threads). Apply dots of glue to the design, placing them evenly. Then attach the decorations to the glue. You must be patient and do this in stages, otherwise the glue may dry out before you are finished.
It really is that simple, depending on how confident you are, you can let your imagination run wild and create sparkling pumpkins that even Faberge himself would have been proud of.

Step 1:Make sure the pumpkin surface is clean and dry. Apply a special primer with a brush to seal the surface. Let them dry for 30 to 60 minutes.
Step 2:Position the stickers on the pumpkin, then smear the entire surface with “sticky size,” including the stickers. Leave until clear and sticky, 10 to 20 minutes.
STEP 3:Place gold or silver leaf. Simply place fragments of metal leaf, called shaibin, flat on the pumpkin for a nice finish. Using a soft cloth, smooth the leaves on the surface to fill any gaps. Save excess leaves for the next project.
STEP 4:Carefully peel off the stickers with tweezers.
Step 5:Apply toner with a brush. Use a soft cloth to wipe away the toner to achieve the desired color. Leave the toner darker around the trunk or in the crevices for a more dramatic effect.
