This is how the bathtub is cleaned properly
To properly clean and care for your bathtub, make cleaning part of your regular weekly routine. This means you don't have to clean them so intensively every time. Just follow the steps below:
- Spray the tub with hot water or use a large sponge to wipe it down.
- Dust them with baking soda and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Fill the tub with hot water to a depth of 2 cm. Use a scrub brush or microfiber cloth to clean and remove any residue.
- Drain the water from the tub.
- Rinse the tub again with hot, clean water.
- Use a microfiber cloth to polish the faucets, shower attachments, drain, and handles.
Clean the tub with baking soda and vinegar
If the bathtub is very dirty, use baking soda and vinegar. Just be aware that vinegar is great for dirty porcelain and fiberglass tubs, but it may be too harsh for acrylic tubs.
These two natural cleaning products work perfectly together. Although the two ingredients are widely used, there is a lot of misinformation about how to properly use them together. The hissing and bubbling reaction that occurs when they are mixed increases the cleaning power. That's why these two home remedies should not be mixed beforehand, but rather you should use them one after the other, directly on the dirty surface.
- The first step is to put all shampoo bottles and other bath accessories aside. If it's been a while since you last cleaned, we recommend dusting the edge with a microfiber cloth.
- Make a dilute vinegar solution using equal parts white vinegar and distilled water. Pour it into a spray bottle and spread it throughout the tub, focusing on the areas with hard buildup. Let the vinegar solution sit for at least 30 minutes. This allows the acetic acid to break down any oil or dirt compounds.
- Sprinkle the surface of the bathtub with baking soda and let it and the vinegar sit for a few minutes. Scrub gently to remove any soap scum or mineral deposits.
- The baking soda can leave streaks, so be sure to rinse the tub thoroughly with warm water.
Clean acrylic tub with soda
Harsh cleaners can dull the surface of acrylic tubs. Fortunately, there is a solution: a mixture of dish soap, baking soda and lemon juice. The baking soda acts like an aggregate that dissolves the soap scum.
Make a 1:1 mixture of baking soda and dish soap and add a few drops of lemon juice. Mix until the whole thing becomes foamy.
Dip a sponge in the solution, coat the bathtub with it, and leave for 30 minutes.
Using a wet sponge, clean the tub from top to bottom so that the dirty water runs down into the tub.
Rinse the entire tub with water.
