This one-room apartment is located in a historic area in Milan and has an area of approximately 34 square meters. The main idea of the project is to make the living space functional. To create the effect of a larger apartment, the architects chose folding doors made of ash wood. Today you will be presented with the details of the project - living room, kitchen, bathroom, dining room and bedroom.
When you open the front door, you immediately see a wide space - the living room. On the right is the kitchen with a white worktop. Handleless kitchen cabinets made of ash wood with tip-on mechanisms are preferred by the architects for this modern apartment.
Next to the kitchenette you will see a comfortable folding sofa. Occasionally it is convenient to open and close it, especially when someone comes to visit. After a long day at work, you can find peace and relax there. A tile-look floor covering covers the entire apartment. If you're thinking about how to furnish your one-room apartment, here's a little tip: The light color visually enlarges the area and goes very well with the ash wood.
In order to create more or less privacy and separate the rooms from each other, the living room and bedroom were separated with folding doors made of ash wood. The maximum space optimization leaves more area as free and open to light as possible. As you have probably already noticed, there is no unnecessary furniture in the apartment.
The doors can be moved to reveal the bedroom. They can remain closed or open depending on your needs. The bathroom is on the left side of the room. This bedroom looks very practical and fashionable. The cut out circular patterns allow light into the room. Especially at night, when you go to bed and leave the lamp on in the rest of your living area, you feel like you're surrounded by several planets. Dark gray was chosen for the walls because this color goes perfectly with the ash wood loft bed.
Ash wood is the material from which the steps are made. Their function is to provide access to the loft bed. The steps can be opened and closed without any effort. In this example they are used as drawers in which you can store various small things. The loft bed is opened up so that the clothes underneath can be neatly arranged. Very comfortable, clever and saves a lot of space. If you want to describe the idea for furnishing this one-room apartment in one word, it would definitely be functionality. With its numerous tasks, the loft bed, for example, is easy to fall in love with.
The design decisions are even more than expected. Peace and light are particularly sought after in the bedroom. The private atmosphere is created by surrounding the bed on all sides with folding doors. Apart from the circular pattern in the ash wood and a reading lamp on the wall, there is no other lighting in this small sleeping area. Nevertheless, enough light comes into the room. Definitely a bedroom to feel good in!
Conclusion: The strategy of the project is to show the large number of options you have to furnish your one-room apartment in a functional, modern and comfortable way with elements of solid wood.
