To get precisely formed letters, you need to know the correct flow, pressure and angle. Do you want to label a cake – easily without any additional tools? Then you've come to the right place! Read on to find out more about it!
Mastering the art of cake writing
It's important to practice and practice some more until your writing is consistently great, because even someone with beautiful handwriting can't guarantee that applied glaze will look as good. If you can't decide which alphabet looks best on you, consider experimenting with different fonts until you find one you like. Once you've mastered one font, you can try others. Since the texture and flow of the glaze determines the quality of your letters, you can refine your technique by experimenting with different glazes. Try different types of frosting, such as buttercream, melted chocolate, whipped cream, and couverture, to see which you like.
If you want to write on cakes but are afraid of ruining the delicate sugar writing, you can try making a plaque out of pastillage or fondant and writing on it. You can simply scratch or wipe the letters and start over if you did something wrong. If the lettering is correct, you can attach the sign to the cake and then around itdecorate around the cake.
Label the cake – instructions
Writing on a cake is a breeze with any type of piping bag. If desired, you can use melted chocolate, ganache, buttercream or a couverture. As a hobby bakerwould you buttercreamand probably don't keep ganache in stock all the time. Unlike other remedies, chocolate is readily available, melts easily, and can be used immediately. The fact that chocolate is not naturally very thick is one of the main reasons we suggest its use. Its fluidity makes it easy to direct the flow as it flows with little resistance. Buttercream and ganache, on the other hand, are thicker and more difficult to work with.
When writing, make sure the thickness is even. If you want your writing to stand out, use this simple method. To highlight the first letter of the word, you can choose the letter H for Happy, the letter B for Birthday, or the letter A for Everything and the letter G for Good. You can achieve this effect by making the letters of the alphabet slightly larger and more noticeable compared to the rest of the word. Also try writing in a different style to make it seem a bit more elegant.
Then form a line in your head: mentally draw a line starting in the middle of the first letter, and then from that point write the following letters up to that height.
Use baking paper as a template
1. Make sure the size of the baking paper is proportional to your cake. Express yourself on the parchment paper by writing on it with a marker. Be sure to consider the gaps when locating the middle letter of each line of text and designating it as the center to ensure your message is centered.
Tipp:Choose a font you prefer, print out your message and place the paper under the parchment paper so you can easily trace it!
2. Then distribute the baking paper evenly over the cake. Poke the frosting with a toothpick to reveal the lettering. After peeling off the parchment paper, use the toothpick to connect the dots.
3. Then fill your piping bags and when you're done, use the icing to trace the outline you just made. You can create a clean break by carefully placing the tip on the cake and then pulling straight up when you reach the end of a line. If you mess up, don't worry about it! You can easily remove the letters by scraping them and smoothing the icing with a spatula.
Other options than letters on a cake
Try sweet letters if you need an easier method of sugar writing. Small candies like chocolate chips or M&Ms can also be used and applied as letters.
