This 185 square meter guest house is perched on a cliff overlooking a trout pond and open farmland. Designed as a quiet weekend retreat, the home allows visitors to enjoy and experience the beautiful scenery. Through the large panoramic windows instead of outside walls, you can let your gaze wander over the trees, lake and fields. The house also features a range of sustainable technologies such as geothermal heating and cooling systems, underfloor heating, natural ventilation, electric sun protection, photovoltaic systems and rainwater collection.
Panoramic windows instead of concrete walls
Nature serves as a breathtaking backdrop for the main living and sleeping areas. A large double bedroom and two small rooms with bunk beds can accommodate six guests. The bunk beds, bathroom and storage rooms are located in the center of the house and are surrounded by custom-made slatted frame panels. This wooden wall system allows natural daylight to flow into the rooms and provides natural ventilation. At night, the light comes from the inside out, creating a warm, inviting glow in the living area.
Experience nature
The structural design of the house is based on 4 steel columns that are integrated into the wooden core. These 4 pillars support the roof. This elegant structural solution utilizes the minimal amount of materials to create spacious, open living areas. The facade of the house consists of thermally insulated triple-pane glass panoramic windows, which vary in width from 30 to 60 meters. The house was prefabricated, delivered to the construction site in a container and erected in 2 days using a construction crane.
The landscaping and design of the outdoor areas were closely linked to the design of the house. A reduced palette of native plants and other natural highlights surround the property. Bluestone andslate slabsof local origin create the basis for outdoor seating areas and paths. A patio between the house and a nearby pine forest provides a pleasant outdoor space for entertaining and dining. Bluestone treads lead from the patio to a barbecue area and an outdoor shower in the woods.
