Exposed concrete and wood characterize the interior design of a minimalist city villa in Indonesia
The talented architects of Andramatin were commissioned to design and complete a new home for an extended family. This is how the project for Haus AW came about, a minimalist building in the middle of the city. Located in a densely populated neighborhood in Jakarta, Indonesia, thismodern city villais the family's new retreat. The minimalist flat roof house was built in 2017 and has a living space of 800 m² spread over three floors. Three building volumes come together to form a functional residential building and form an inner courtyard protected from prying eyes. A recess in the facade and a generously glazed ground floor give the building an interesting silhouette.
Inspired by the clients' lifestyle, the architects decided on a clever room layout. In the basement there is a cellar, two laundry rooms, a home office and a garage that can accommodate up to four cars. On the ground floor there is a spacious living area that is divided into several zones - living room, kitchen, dining area and a home office. The individual areas are separated from each other by several room dividers. At the same time, the open floor plan allows for eye contact within the ground floor and creates a seamless transition between the individual zones.
Glazed facade allows sunlight into the living area
Dieplenty of glazed frontsAllow sufficient sunlight into the interior and seamlessly connect the inside and outside. While the comfortable seating area in front of the television and the cabinet with two desks look out onto the inner courtyard, the dining area with the adjoining kitchen opens up to the garden in the backyard. This way, residents can always enjoy a beautiful view, no matter where they are in the house.
Another, smaller seating area in the middle of the U-shaped living area has become the center of communication in the house. There the family can relax and enjoy being together after a long day at work. The seating area consists of a black leather sofa, an armchair with back and armrests and two wooden tables, the first smaller and the second larger.
A contrasting material ensemble
The interior walls and flooring form the perfect backdrop for the high-quality furnishings. The interior walls, covered with exposed concrete panels, emphasize the loft character of the single-family home. Their rough look and neutral gray color create an attractive contrast to the dark solid floorboards, which create a cozy and homely ambience and provide a color accent.
Designer furniture in the living area ensures maximum seating comfort
The living area was furnished only with high-quality designer furniture. The chests of drawers, side tables and cupboards are made from local types of wood and fascinate with an attractive grain and a reddish colour. All pieces of furniture offer plenty of storage space for home accessories, potted plants and family photos. The black leather sofas fade discreetly into the background and can be spiced up with colorful decorative cushions with charming geometric patterns. Handmade kilims bring variety to the otherwise monochrome interior.
Direct and indirect lighting sets accents in the dining area
The decoration was rather sparing and primarily with modern works of art: several paintings adorn the walls, statues and home accessories give the room character. A successful lighting concept with built-in ceiling lights in the dining area allows the modern art to come into its own and provides warm light over the dining table, where up to 12 people can sit comfortably.
The garden is designed to be easy to maintain
The garden was designed to be easy to maintain: a spacious lawn in front of the outdoor pool allows for distant views. Perennials were planted along the edge of the lawn. Several trees provide shade on hot summer days. Right next to the lawn is the driveway that leads to the garage. Exposed concrete and wood also play the main role outdoors, on the terrace.
It is an absolute dream home where the boundary between inside and outside merges, where you can relax in the shade and enjoy the beautiful nature all year round from the comfortable living area.
Exposed concrete and wood make the bedroom a modern oasis
The bedroom is an oasis of calm. Wooden blinds provide privacy and shield the residents' private areas. The room is divided into two by a glass wall: on one side there is a large double bed, a closet and a home cinema system. On the other side is the bathroom with a rain shower.
The sleeping area also has a comfortable deep sofa, a free-standing bathtub and a spacious built-in wardrobe. The exposed concrete walls offer plenty of free space for modern works of art, wooden wall shelves and picture ledges accommodate family photos.
