The best Advent recipe: delicious Christmas stollen cookies
Ingredients (for approx. 30 cookies)
- 250 g wheat flour, type 405
- 100 g ground almonds
- 100g sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 pinch of nutmeg
- 150 g butter (cold, in pieces)
- 1 egg, size M
- 50g raisins
- 50 g orange juice (finely chopped)
- 50 g lemon peel (finely chopped)
- 2 THE RUM
- 50 g chopped almonds

- 100g powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp melted butter
- Some vanilla sugar for dusting
preparation
- Place raisins, cranberries, orange peel and lemon peel in the rum or orange juice and let it steep for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C top/bottom heat (160 °C fan oven). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Mix the flour, ground almonds, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large bowl.
- Add cold pieces of butter and process into a crumbly mixture using your fingertips or a hand mixer. Add the egg and knead everything into a smooth dough. Knead in the pickled fruits and chopped almonds. If the dough is too sticky, add a little flour.
- Form balls about the size of a walnut out of the dough, flatten them slightly and place them on the baking tray. Leave some space between the cookies.
- Cookies in the preheated oven for approx.12 to 15 minutesBake until golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly.
- Brush the still warm cookies with the melted butter. Dust with powdered sugar. Optionally add some vanilla sugar.
Tipp:The cookies last for about three weeks in a well-sealed cookie jar and taste better every day - like a real Stollen! Admittedly, they rarely actually last that long...
