There are a few fashion rules that we are very grateful for. If we go to thethink, for example, that is currently everything but not popular., high-top sneakers anyway and we can also happily do without oversized T-shirts that reach to the knees. Fashion is constantly changing, what is trendy one moment can be catapulted off the podium the next moment - and vice versa. In addition to all these fluctuating trends, there are a few fashion rules that have been accepted for decades. Not because they necessarily have to be right, but because that's how we've always done it. And because that's pretty much the stupidest justification, it's over now.In 2024, the fashion world will have embraced outdated conventions - and will quickly adopt fashion faux pas that were once considered frowned uponmade.

Who actually decided that men shouldn't show their legs? There are still people who claim: “Men shouldn’t wear shorts.” We think: it's absolute nonsense! Men shouldWear it if you feel like it. Next summer they can even be ultra-short and end well above the knee. What many would consider a violation of fashion rules is now a pretty cool anti-fashion trend popularized by stars like Jonathan Bailey, Paul Mescal and Jacob Rott.Gucciis considered the pioneer of short shorts when we think back to the fashion show for the Spring Summer 2025 Collection, other brands have now followed suit and also updated their range with short shorts next year. Honestly: why not? Women will wear hot pants, while men will wear the equivalent in the coming season: short shorts.

2. "Looks must consist of at least three colors"

All in beige: look from Loro Piana's autumn and winter collection
There's an old fashion rule that says that well-coordinated outfits must consist of three or more colors. But how do you explain that all-black looks look so damn cool? Seems like this rule is gone. Not only because black-on-black actually works always and everywhere, but also becauseare currently at their peak in all variations and are becoming a sought-after anti-fashion trend. Pants, top and jacket in one color do not look boring together, but rather rather elegant. Whether as a suit or double denim look, whether completely beige or completely grey, tonal looks are a thing.

3. "One look, one dress code"

Elegant casual look from Fear of God
are there to provide guidance. What should I wear to a particular event, how should I dress? An answer to these questions helps in many situations. Black tie is in demand at evening events, business attire in the office, casual at private time, it's all well and good. But why should a look always only follow a dress code?is mentioned more and more often, other mix-up variants can also look cool. By this we mean, for example, the trendy style break of a shirt, tie and hoodie or relaxed sneakers and a cap that you wear with a suit. Combining different styles is not a fashion faux pas, but rather a hip anti-fashion trend that we will see a lot more often. It also simply offers many more possible combinations.

4. "Pajamas only in the bedroom"

Coach proves with its Spring Summer Collection 2025: Pajama Core is in!
Last year we called for people to keep their pajamas on in everyday life.is one of those anti-fashion trends that is damn comfortable and also looks cool. There's something rebellious about the look because you make your own rules and don't care about fashion conventions. And as we all know, we think that’s a good thing anyway. If the look is too experimental for you, that's fine too, then you can just start with just one part of the pajamas and then slowly work your way up to the head-to-toe look. Add boots, loafers or cool sneakers, don't forget the styling and accessories, then you won't look like you've just gotten up.

5. "A shirt belongs under a blazer"

Gucci shows: Blazers also work without anything underneath.
A suit consists of at least three parts: suit trousers, a blazer and a shirt to wear underneath. That's the fashion rule that we haven't followed for a long time. Tank top, t-shirt, one in winter, all of which you can wear under a jacket and look damn cool. Or you can just leave the bottom part out completely. However, this new anti-fashion trend only works if..., so you don't reveal your entire upper body. Your belly button and chest should remain covered, the rest is up to you.

6. “Black not too dark blue”

Prada proves how well black and dark blue harmonize in its Holiday 2024 campaign.
Many people have the myth that you should never combine black and dark blue because the two colors are too similar and would bite. This misconception has not been an issue in the fashion world for a long time. Simply because with this fashion rule you are denying yourself the chance to put together a cool anti-fashion trend that is just a little more exciting than the same old one. A rich dark blue harmonizes particularly well with black, whether as a layer or a trouser-top combination. So to make this clear once and for all: Black and dark blue also work together.
7. "You can't see your underpants"

Underpants out, finds closed.
So boys, get themout! They can now finally become part of the visible outfit again, if we and the current anti-fashion trends have our way. This is just ignoring an outdated fashion rule, but as we all know, rules are there to be broken anyway. You don't have to worry: you can show themnot by wearing the pants under the butt again in the future, as was the case with the skater trend in the 2010s. It's more about making the cuffs visible, for example by tucking the T-shirt into the boxer shorts and wearing it over the jeans or simply choosing a shortened top. It's easy, looks casual and is pretty much the opposite of what fashion conventions dictate. And that's a good thing.
