GLAMOR Women of the Year Award 2024 in Germany: These are the award winners
One thing is clear: GLAMOR stands for female. And we don't just say that, we mean it seriously:And that's why we draw the 2nd one., which took place at the Fotografiska Museum in Berlin, selected eight special women. In their own areas, these women inspire us and stand for solidarity and courage - and make all of our lives better.
GLAMOR Women of the Year Award 2024: These are the winners of the first WOTY in Germany
At this second Women of the Year Award on November 12, 2024, we will honor eight women who have achieved something special in their respective fields.
“Model Of The Year”: Valentina Sampaio
Model Valentina Sampaio is a series of firsts: the first trans* model on the cover of French VOGUE. The first trans* model in a Victoria's Secret campaign and one of the first on the catwalk. She comes from a small fishing village in the north of Brazil and hasn't always had it easy: she grew up without role models - which is why she now wants to be a role model for all trans* people. In addition to her job, she also advocates for the rights of trans* people and raises awareness of the struggles of trans peopleattentive. Valentina Sampaio breaks the mold of the modeling industry and shows how important it is to stay true to yourself.
“Rising Actress”: Harriet Herbig-Matten
The Munich native Harriet Herbig-Matten was in front of the camera early on. At 14 she had her first role in “Das Pubertier” alongside Heike Makatsch. Younger fans probably know her better as Tina in the new edition of “Bibi and Tina”. But at least sinceGen Z knows her all over the world: As Ruby Bell, she impresses in a strong and unyielding role and goes viral on TikTok. Harriet Herbig-Matten is a role model for a new generation and inspires her fans to dream big.
“Visionary Award sponsored by Dyson”: Mona Ghazi
She studied business administration at 14 and became an entrepreneur at 16: Mona Ghazi founded several software companies that ultimately led her to neuro-entrepreneurship. With her “Neuropreneur Institute” she supports workers in finding a healthy way to deal with stress. And stress is a huge issue for young employees. FromBusiness InsiderShe was chosen as one of the “20 under 20” personalities and won the German Start-up Award in 2023. We are sure: Mona Ghazi will make the world of work a better one.
“Athlete Of The Year”: Elena Semechin
In 2005, Elena Semechin moved with her parents from Kazakhstan to Germany before she was diagnosed with a hereditary disease at the age of seven that severely limited her eyesight. It wasn't until she was 13 that she jumped into a swimming pool for the first time. Then: countless medals at European and World Championships later, she wins at theGold in the 100 meter breaststroke in Tokyo in 2020. But shortly afterwards the setback comes: brain tumor. Elena Semechin is fighting her way through recovery. What’s more: she trains – and wins gold in. The world-class athlete shows that she belongs on the winner's podium.
“Human Rights Activist”: Düzen Tekkal
Human rights activist, author and journalistspeaks out what society needs to hear. As the daughter of Yazidi parents, her sense of justice is closely linked to her own history. Together with her sister Tuğba, she founded the aid organization Háwar Help and is never quiet when it comes to..., empathy and equality. Düzen Tekkal is someone who doesn't give up - and gets even louder when others have long since lost courage.
“National Music Act”: Nina Chuba
Who's back? Nina! Nina! The singer started it allat the tender age of seven on the TV series “Die Pfefferkörner”. Today she is from HamburgtheFace of the German pop scene. She swapped the pepper for “Wildberry Lillet” in 2022 and “Mangos with Chili” in 2023. She is also the TikToker of our hearts, always authentic and funny at the same time. On her arena tour in 2025 she will prove: no crowd is too big for the great Nina Chuba.
Kesha is one of the most important musicians and songwriters of our time. In 2010 she made her mark with the party hit “TikTok” (which, by the waybeforethe app gave) pop culture, followed by a long legal battle that cost them a lot of energy. During this time she gets going - and in 2024 she will be back on the big stage, free and with full force. The musician is founding her own record label, Kesha Records, and has an important message for all women: You have a right to your truth.
“Actress Of The Year”: Ashley Park
Singing, dancing, acting and saying countless decimal places of pi: Yes,can do all of that. The American with Korean roots became famous for her role as Mindy Chen infamous worldwide. But that's not all: she shines, inon Broadway and the All-Asian Comedyon the cinema screen. No wonder she's already been nominated for a Grammy and a Tony Award. So this year's GLAMOR Actress Of The Year Award is just the beginning for the versatile Ashley Park.
