Instead of a classic apple pie, this time crispy apple turnovers end up on the table. They're quick to make, super tasty and perfect for a sweet afternoon snack (but they're also delicious for breakfast).
You only need a few ingredients and you don't have to make any dough, as the base is ready-made puff pastry. Practical and delicious!
Simple recipe for apple turnovers
For the apple turnovers we can use ready-made dough. Making puff pastry yourself is a huge effort and not that easy. That's why a ready-made dough works.
Ingredients (for approx. 16 apple turnovers):
- 1 pack of puff pastry from the refrigerated shelf
- 2 apples
- 1 tbsp chopped hazelnuts
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1 No
- some powdered sugar or caramel sauce to decorate
- Optional: 1 tbsp raisins
- Optional: 1 EL Rum
This is how it works Preparation:
1.Put the lemon juice in a bowl and peel the apples. Cut them into small cubes and add them directly to the juice so that they don't turn brown. Mix everything well.
2.Now mix the chopped hazelnuts (optionally raisins and rum), sugar and cinnamon with the apple pieces and let the whole thing steep for about 20-30 minutes.
3.Meanwhile, turn on the oven220° C (top/bottom heat)preheat.
4.Take the puff pastry out of the fridge, unroll it and mark two circles, each about 20 cm in diameter.
5.Now divide the circles into 8 pieces of cake each and put some apple filling on the wide side. Then carefully roll up the apple turnovers.
6.Now place the apple turnovers on a baking tray that you have previously lined with baking paper, leaving enough space between them.
7.Beat the egg with a fork and brush it onto each individual apple pocket.
8.Then put the whole thing in the preheated oven20-25 minutesbake.
9.After the apple turnovers are baked until golden brown, you can take them out, let them cool and decorate them with powdered sugar or sweet caramel sauce.

We think the apple turnovers belong on every coffee table and are a great change from the classic apple pie.
Instead of apples, you can of course also use other fruit such as pears. Or how about delicious pumpkin bags for the cold season? They can also be processed well. However, make sure that you let the pumpkin flesh dry a little on kitchen paper beforehand. Otherwise the filling will be too liquid.
