Whether in heart shape or rectangular: we love waffles! Sweet, fluffy and super easy, here is our recipe for buttermilk waffles.

Do you love fresh waffle as much as I do? If this sweet and vanilla fragrance fulfills the kitchen, it happened to me. Because nothing goes from the waffle iron via warm waffle.

With a very special ingredient, the waffle dough becomes even more tender and fluffier: buttermilk! So if you are still looking for a suitable recipe for the weekend, you have to try these buttermilk waffles. This is where the recipe comes.

Waffles recipe for buttermilk

My very personal tip: adds a pinch of cardamom to the dough - I copied that from the Norwegians and it gives the waffles a very special taste again.

Ingredients for approx. 12 pieces:

  • 125 g soft butter
  • 250 g Mehl
  • 4 eggs (size M)
  • 1 PCK. Vanilla sugar
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 Natron socket
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 250 ml buttermilk

Besides that

  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Some fat for waffle iron

And so the waffles succeed:

1. First the waffle iron (For example this from Amazon*) Switch on and grease it with a little oil or butter.

2. Beat the soft butter with sugar, vanilla sugar and salt until frothy. Add the eggs one after the other. Mix the flour, baking powder and soda and alternately add the dough with the buttermilk and mix briefly with the hand mixer on a medium level.

3. Then bake the dough in the waffle iron. Make sure not to fill too much into the waffle iron so that the dough does not run over the edge. It is best to enjoy the finished buttermilk waffles warm and dusted with powdered sugar.
