What's better in winter than a hearty pasta casserole with minced meat? Here is the sure-fire recipe.

There are a few recipes that I could prepare in my sleep now because I enjoy cooking them so much. This clearly includes this brilliant onefor oven macaroni alla Mamma – an absolute hit when hunger strikes.

In the past, I always prepared the pasta casserole with minced meat using a ready-made bag. It's quick and you don't have to worry too much about the right spices etc. But I promise you that it's not complicated at all, even without a fix product.

By the way: I've had this recipe several timeswithout minced meatcooked. To do this, I simply roasted onions and garlic with tomato paste and spices, deglazed the whole thing and let it simmer as tomato sauce (without mince).

Me and my family enjoyed it almost as much as vegetarian. So don't worry if you don't have minced meat in the house (or it takes too long to defrost from the frozen food...).

Ingredients for approx. 4 servings:

  • 500 g Makkaroni (oder andere Pasta, e.g. Penne)
  • 400 g minced meat
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 500 ml pureed tomatoes
  • 500 ml vegetable broth or beef broth
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 1 EL Oregano, getrocknet
  • 1 EL Thymian, getrocknet
  • 200 g fresh herb cream
  • 150g grated cheese

And it's that easy:

1. Peel the onion and garlic and chop both finely.

2. Heat olive oil in a large pan and fry the minced meat in it. Season with salt and pepper. Add the onions and garlic after 1-2 minutes and fry until the mince is crumbly.

3. Now add the tomato paste to the minced meat. Stir in well so that it is also briefly roasted. Then deglaze the whole thing with broth and pureed tomatoes. Bring the sauce to the boil, then simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, thyme and oregano.

4. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 180 degrees top and bottom heat.

5. Fill the uncooked macaroni into the mold and mix with the minced meat sauce. The pasta should be well covered by the sauce. Spread the crème fraîche in blobs over the casserole, then sprinkle with cheese and bake for about 30-40 minutes. Bon appetit!

My tip: After baking, let the casserole sit outside the oven for a good 15 minutes and cool down a bit. In this time you can, for example, prepare a quick salad ().
