Our recipe for baked Maultaschen

Maultaschen are a specialty of Swabian cuisine. They consist of pasta dough that is filled with, among other things, fine minced meat, onions, rolls and spinach.

This is what you need for approx. 4 servings:

  • 12 small Maultaschen (2 packs)
  • 400 g canned diced tomatoes
  • 400 g pureed tomatoes
  • 1 cup of sweet cream
  • 2 teaspoons broth powder
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • A small onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 150g grated cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: 150 g Brokkoli

This is how the recipe works:

1. Peel the onion and garlic and chop finely. Briefly fry the onions in a large pot with a tablespoon of olive oil until they become translucent. Towards the end add the garlic and sauté.

2. Add the pureed tomatoes, chopped tomatoes and cream to the pot, season with salt, pepper, basil and oregano. Add the broth powder and let it simmer gently. Meanwhile, cut the Maultaschen into slices and place in a greased baking dish (for example this one from Kadax, on Amazon*) give.

Tipp:If you want, you can wash the broccoli, cut it into small pieces and cook it in salted water for about 5 minutes until al dente. Then add to the Maultaschen.

3. Pour the sauce over the Maultaschen. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan oven) for approx. 20-25 minutes until the cheese is nicely browned. Remove from the oven, optionally garnish with fresh tomatoes and enjoy.
