Wooden floors are popular on the terrace or balcony. We reveal which errors you should avoid so that it lasts as long as possible.
A wooden floor gives the terrace or the balcony cosiness and warmth. The natural material looks friendly and is durable and robust with proper care.
However, three habits are extremely harmful to the soil. If you do it regularly, he ages much faster and has to be replaced much earlier.
Here are three mistakes, which many owners of a wooden terrace unfortunately make far too often:
1. Clean the wooden terrace with high pressure
High pressure cleaners are practical and save a lot of time in the application. Compared to cleaning by hand, the high water pressure ensures that dirt is washed away within seconds without the use of muscle power.
The problem: With a wooden terrace, the high -pressure cleaner does more damage than anything else. The wood fibers are not made for the high pressure and can break during cleaning. Dirt particles are also pushed into the fibers of the wood by the high pressure - so it doesn't really get clean.
Instead of a high -pressure cleaner, you should therefore use a wooden terrace or a balcony with a wooden floor to use a so -called deburring. For example, there is a spray or as a sprayGel (view here at Amazon*).

2. Don't let the wooden terrace dry
Even if the warm weather is tempting and you want to enjoy your terrace as soon as possible after cleaning: Always let the floor dry completely before you put terrace furniture, plant boxes and other large objects on it.
If your terrace is still wet from cleaning, residual moisture that remains under the furniture can attack the wood. In the worst case, this leads to putrefaction. So it is best to search for a sunny day for cleaning on which the wood dries quickly.

3. paint wooden terrace
The correct protection of a wooden terrace is important. It is exposed to many weather influences and must be well protected against wear. Out of ignorance, many therefore use paint to close the wooden planks.
However, paint prevents the wood from breathing and also favors cracks that can penetrate the moisture into the wood. This leads to an early aging of the terrace.
Care with wood oil is much better. This should be applied once or twice a year and protects the material from the weather and (if the product is compiled accordingly) from mold.
