In advance in the video: In the hotel you should always choose this bed side
Good sleep is important. But what many do not know: the mattress is not always to blame for back pain and the like.
Do you know that? You wake up in the morning and feel totally cured? Maybe that's not because of your mattress, but something that underestimates many: your slatted frame. In fact, the plastic sliders, which you have probably seen in the matrat turn, make the decisive difference whether your sleep is relaxing or not.
More on that:
Why is the slatted frame so important?
While mattresses often get the most attention, it is the slatted frame (and yes, it really means the slatted frame, not the slatted frame), which optimally supports the mattress and ensures that the lying surface adapts to your body shape.
It distributes the pressure, supports the spine and can prevent tension - provided it is set correctly. Because many make the mistake and underestimate this part.
The plastic slide: small detail, big effect
The small plastic slide on the slatted frame, mostly black, blue or white, are often overlooked - they are a decisive factor for your sleeping comfort. They enable you to individually adapt the hardness and elasticity of the individual slats to your body and your sleeping position. But how exactly do they work and why is it worth setting them correctly?
The so-called O-slide hold together an upper and lower bar and are often in the middle to lower areas of the slatted frame, since the strongest load caused by the pelvis and hip is created here.
Push the slide out:Increases the stability and hardness of the respective zone. Ideal if you need more support, for example for the lower back.
Push the slide inside:Reduces the hardness and makes the zone softer. Perfect when certain areas of the body, such as the hip, are supposed to sink more down to relieve the spine.
Reading tip:
Which attitude is right for you?
Here it depends on your sleeping position:
1. Back sleeper:
The O-slide should be set in V-shaped, in which the tip points towards the foot end. The pelvis should be positioned in bed so that there is a lying on the top of the VS.
2nd side sleeper:
Side sleepers need good support for the waist, while hips and shoulders should sink softly to ensure a straight back line. The sliders should also form a V, in which the top tips are slightly moved inwards.
3. Abdominal sleeper:
For belly sleepers, it is advisable to push the O-slide as far as possible to the edge. The exact setting depends on personal comfort - test the lying surface to individually adjust the ideal hardness.
Tipp:Even if you have set the slide correctly, it is worth checking it regularly. Changes in body weight or sleeping habits may make adjustments necessary. A short check every six months is enough to ensure that everything remains optimally set.
