Scrap gnomes: These are the classic rules

Do you feel like playing scrappy elves, but don't know the rules? No problem, we have summarized everything you need to know.

Scrap Secret Santa is a popular gift-giving tradition that creates fun moments for both the giver and the recipient. Both traditional Secret Santa and Scrap Secret Santa can be done easily in large groups. This is why weight is often discussed among work colleagues, in clubs or in school classes.

While with Secret Santa you usually give each other a new gift that can vary greatly in price, with Scrap Secret Santa you give each other an item that you no longer need. Accordingly, junk imp is also oneGift method.

With Scrap Secret Santa you can also decide for yourself whether you want to give a funny gift or whether you want to give away an item that the recipient can actually use.

We'll tell you here what variants there are when it comes to scrap gnomes and what the classic rules are.

Scrap elves with tickets: These are the rules

One of the most well-known methods, which is also often used in classic Secret Santa, is the variant in which lots decide who you give a gift to. To do this, all names are written on a piece of paper and then each participant (secretly) draws a name from the lottery pot.

The person then has to find a gift for this person. The recipient does not know who is giving them the gift. Of course, you can decide individually whether you finally reveal yourself when the gift is handed over or whether you should still leave it open as to who gave something to whom.

However, if you look at the tradition of Secret Santa, it is all about a secret gift. This means that you shouldn't reveal who the gift came from when you hand over the gift.

Origin of Secret Santa:At aSecret Santais a Nordic legendary figure who secretly does something good. Originally, the gift was secretly given to the recipient by a certain date, usually in the run-up to Christmas. However, this custom is rarely used today.

You can also determine individually how much time you have after drawing lots to get the gift. They often agree to stay for one or two weeks and then give the gifts at a joint Christmas party.

In contrast to junk Secret Santa, with classic Secret Santa you also like to set a maximum amount so that the gifts are not too far apart in price.

Scrap gnomes with dice: These are the rules

Another fun variant for scrap gnomes is rolling dice. Here, each participant gets the scrap present, but you don't know who you're giving it to until day X. On Christmas (or any other day) everyone gets together and places their wrapped presents in the middle. The dice then decide who receives which gift.

These are the rules:

All you need isa cube (is available here on Amazon)*.Then the dice are rolled in turn.

Each number represents one of the following rules:

Like:Gift can be unwrapped.
Two:Exchange a gift with someone.
Three:Pass the gift to the person on the left.
Four:Pass the gift on to the right person.
Five:Your left and right seat neighbors have to exchange gifts.
Six:Take the gift from the table and wait. Anyone who then rolls a six again must sit out.

The game only ends when everyone has opened a present and there are none left. Depending on the group size, you can also set a time. After the time is up, everyone can open the gift in front of him or her.

Scrap gnomes: The most beautiful ideas

There are no limits to your creativity when it comes to scrap gnomes. The gift doesn’t really have to be “junk”, you can of course just give something that you can still use. Unless you agree in advance that damaged or even broken items can also be given away. Maybe you have something twice.

If you already know the recipient, you can think about what they could use from the items you have at home. Maybe she's mentioned what she's missing or raved about something you own.

If the person likes to eat pizza, a pizza cutter would be an option. If they like to cook, you can give away an old cookbook that you no longer need.
