Make stars out of sandwich bags – instructions:

  • Take a bread bag and make cuts on the sides as shown.
  • So that the star gets its typical points, cut the open side of the bag to a point. In principle, this tip alone is enough to get a beautiful star. So you don't necessarily need to add the cuts shown.
  • Once you have about 10 bags with the same patterns ready, apply glue to the edge of the first (a simple glue stick is sufficient) and place the second bag on top. Press everything firmly.
  • Continue like this until you have, for example, glued 8 bags together. Then you can do a small test to check whether these are already sufficient. Gently pull them apart and try to bring the two ends together. If that doesn't work, add more bags.
  • Finally, glue the ends together and the sandwich cone stars are ready.
  • If you are making the stars to hang up, you can now attach string. Double-sided adhesive tape is also suitable if you want the paper bag stars to stick to the wall, for example.

If you use white sandwich or breakfast bags, you can in principle do this tooSnowflakes from sandwich bagsreceive. In terms of shape they are quite similar. Then decorate the windows, Christmas tree, chandelier, bare walls or any other area as you wish.

Make an Advent calendar with sandwich bags for Christmas

You can even make an Advent calendar out of sandwich bags without any scraps. In principle you can simply fill them, label them with numbers and then either hang them up orarrange in a basket. But if you feel like it, you can of course get a little creative.

For the Advent calendar with bread bags you can:

  • Use stickers with numbers
  • Decorate with washi tape
  • use any stickers
  • Use lace or other ribbons to decorate
  • work with glitter or rhinestones
  • Paint Christmas motifs with acrylic paints
  • Print out templates, cut them out and use them as stencils for paper motifs
  • Use natural Christmas materials (e.g. pine greens, berry branches, cinnamon sticks, dried oranges, etc.) to decorate by creating small bundles

Attach yarn to the individual Advent calendar bread bags and hang them on a branch, for example, or build one out of simple wooden stripsChristmas tree for the wallto which you attach the Advent calendar. You can also use small clips to close the bread bags.

Wrapping gifts with paper bags

Of course you can buy ready-made gift bags, but everyone has them, just like purchased wrapping paper. Instead, you prefer to design bread paper bags for Christmas presents in your own way. Not only is this fun, but the wrapping itself is also much easier and quicker than folding and gluing wrapping paper.

To design, you can use the same ideas that we have already mentioned for the Advent calendar. With pens you can draw custom pictures or add personalized messages. You can make your own stamps with potatoes and then use them to print on the bags. Padding paper is also ideal for a beautiful print pattern and can be used to imitate lace, for example (see picture above). Or glue on beads, snowflakes, or a red pom-pom for Rudolph's nose!

Have you perhaps kept some leftover wrapping paper from last year? That's perfect! Because you can use it, for exampleMake a Christmas treeand decorate the sandwich cones. Or try any other motif.

Are you giving a plant as a gift or would you perhaps like to design your mini Christmas tree differently? Then put it in a bag after scrunching it up a little (this makes it more flexible). Push or roll the paper further down so it doesn't cover the plant and tie twine or a pretty ribbon around it. Complete!

Design gifts with dried flowers

For theDecorating the wrapped giftYou can use dried flower bouquets or bouquets made from natural Christmas materials. Simply wrap these in funnels that you make from the sandwich bags.

  • Cut off the bottom of the bag and then open one side.
  • At the top, cut the edge (preferably with zigzag scissors) from one corner to the opposite, leaving one of the corners to serve as a background for the bouquet.
  • Place the prepared bouquet on this corner and wrap the two sides of paper around it. You are welcome to shorten these if you don't want them to overlap so much.
  • Tie a piece of twine around the bouquet.

Last minute idea: lanterns for indoors and outdoors

In principle, it is enough to simply open the bag and place an LED candle (not a real one!) inside. Take white or brown sandwich bags, as desired. But if that's too simple and boring for you, you have the option of designing the paper.

For this purpose you can, for example, perforate the bags. This works very well with a hole punch or other punches (e.g. motif punches with Christmas motifs), but also with sparkling pens or other tools for perforating leather.
