Blood sugar fluctuations after eating can trigger hunger feeling

Some people are simplealways hungry. But why? A new study gives the answer. The researchers have found that blood sugar fluctuations and low blood pressure are to blame for why some people eat more than others.

The study published in the “Nature Metabolism” journal was carried out by King's College in London in collaboration with Zoe. The focus of the study was to find out why some people have difficulty taking. Why is calorie counting for these people senseless and how can you lose weight healthy? The research team found that it could be due to blood sugar fluctuations and low blood pressure.

As part of two weeks, blood samples of 1 070 subjects were taken before and after breakfast, as well as before and after an extensive meal. The scientists analyzed the results before and after 70,000 meals. The researchers found that the blood sugar levels increased in the first two hours after each meal and then dropped again in the next two hours. Subjects in whom these blood sugar fluctuations were particularly extreme felt 9 % hungry than usual and their next meal took place one and a half hours earlier than with the participants, in which no or low blood sugar fluctuations were found. The participants from the first group had eaten a total of 75 calories more in the first three hours after breakfast. The daily calorie intake among the subjects with low blood sugar fluctuations after eating was less.

In the past it was assumed that the increase in blood sugar levels after eating is to blame for the feeling of hunger. With this study, the researchers were able to demonstrate that reducing these values is the real reason why some people get hungry faster than others.

In the future, the doctors and nutrition experts can measure blood sugar for breakfast, two hours after breakfast and four hours after breakfast. Due to the results, a diet plan tailored to personal needs can then be created for everyone. In this way, the feeling of hunger can be reduced and the daily calorie intake can be regulated in a natural way.
