The researchers wanted to find out whether the good properties of avocado actually have a measurable effect on our intestinal microbes. So they conducted an experiment. For this purpose, 160 study participants were divided into two groups. Both received an almost identical meal every day - one group with avocado and the other without. Participants provided blood, urine, and stool samples before, during, and after the experiment. In addition to the special daily meal prepared by the researchers, they were allowed to eat anything they would normally eat throughout the day. After 12 weeks, researchers examined the data and found some very interesting results.

The people who ate avocado every day not only had more gut microbes, but also greater diversity. A healthy gut is the result, because more good microbes means better breakdown of fiber and improved production of compounds that are good for our digestive system.
