There are foods that could stunt children's growth (study)

A new study of skeletal development reveals an important oneInsight into child nutrition. The researchers found that family eating habits not only teach children poor eating habits, but in the long term they can disrupt bone growth and damage bone density. The researchers say that there are also foods that could inhibit children's growth.

An unhealthy diet can stunt children's growth, researchers claim

The study was published in the journal Bone Research by a team of researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's School of Agriculture. The goal was to explore the connection between “extremely processed foods” and bone development in children. This refers to foods that undergo several processing stages and contain indigestible food ingredients. These are the so-called junk foods and foods that you can quickly heat up and eat. They account for up to 70% of the calories many children consume.
The study examined young rodents that were fed extremely processed foods. They suffered from stunted growth and their bone density was negatively affected. The scientists also discovered heavy cartilage deposits in the bone joints, which are the “engine” of bone growth. When the proportion of processed foods was reduced to 70%, the damage to bone density and cartilage deposits in the bone joints was also reduced. According to the researchers, this study highlights how severely unhealthy eating can affect children's growth. Of course, further research needs to be carried out on children too.

These foods are healthy and can promote growth

It is important that parents adjust the child's nutrition correctly. To do this you have to know the food. Useful fats include olive oil and unsaturated fats from nuts and salmon. Margarine is harmful,Palm oil and hydrogenated oils. Choose 2% milk, naturally aged cheese and fresh yogurt over chocolate milk or ice cream. Boiled, roasted and grilled meat, fish, eggs, beans, almonds and unsweetened peanut butter are useful. Avoid hamburgers, cheeseburgers and chicken fingers. Regarding vegetables, spinach, broccoli, green salads, carrots, tomatoes, grilled peppers are allowed. Avoid potato chips, fries and onion rings. Many types of fruit are very useful such as apples, pears, berries, grapes, peaches, apricots, plums and dried fruit. However, more than one glass of fruit juice daily is not desirable. Opt for whole wheat bread and brown rice instead of white bread and white rice. With such a diet you contribute to the health of your children.
