Humanity is reaching a point of no return in terms of ecology, and by replenishing cleaning products we can contribute to environmental protection. Planting trees is a great solution, but given the immense complexity of the environmental issues we face as a species, it is not a one-size-fits-all effort. However, there is a neweco-friendly trendin drugstores. It involves household and personal care retailers aiming to reduce single-use plastic bottles. This is done by having customers continually refill the containers they bring into the store.
Refill cosmetics or cleaning products
Plastic is still a big problem. Not only does production require energy and other resources, but much of it is also wasted in the various natural habitats around the globe. There are already dozensPlastic waste elimination initiatives, including a laundry detergent dispenser to encourage the reuse of plastic bottles. This type of refill station has become very popular recently.
In a local drugstore in the Czech Republic there is a machine for refilling empty bottles of detergent and dishwashing liquid. Customers can use the machine to refill their clean empty bottles instead of buying a new plastic bottle every time. The drugstore is Rossman, a German chain. They have teamed up with German chemical and consumer goods company Henkel to solve the problem of single-use plastic packaging.
Sustainable production
Considering annual plastic production is in the millions, reusing a plastic container once would reduce the impact of the problem by half. Such a step towards plastic-free household products is a no-brainer for companies and people.
“It is clear to everyone that plastic does not simply disappear. We are all becoming increasingly aware of the impact of our waste. But what can we do to help? Reduce, reuse and replenish. “
Such a machine was also installed in the Croatian port city of Rijeka. However, it is about the distribution of food. The inventor of the plastic bag once said that his invention was an environmentally friendly answer to the use of paper and cotton. However, many people became lazy andalmost all plastic bagsare therefore reused fewer than the recommended 131 times. Making reusability of plastic bottles so accessible that you only go to the store you would go to anyway will not only save you money, but also help the environment. Other companies are also getting to work with this idea.
