Madonna's eldest daughter,Lourdes Leon, said in a new interview that Material Girl is a surprisingly strict parent. In her everyday life, the sex icon allegedly behaved like a control freak. Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon reveals how her mom controlled her throughout her life. The 25-year-old told her mother's best friend, Debi Mazar, this for the interview.
Did Madonna's daughter have a troubled childhood?
Lourdes wanted to be completely independent of Madonna after graduating from high school. Leon, who works as a model, said one of the ways she found her independence was by paying for her own tuition and apartment in New York despite her mother's multi-million dollar estate. However, she also doesn't deny that she grew up with privilege. According to Madonna's daughter, as a mother, she didn't want her children to grow up like some other stars. Leon said she wants to make a living with other talents one day, and not just her supermodel beauty. Additionally, Madonna was very insistent that her daughter think carefully about what she wants to be known for beyond her looks. However, she also noted that modeling is a smart decision right now.
Madonna's daughter also shared that as she's gotten older, she's learned to appreciate her legendary mother's catalog of music even more. Furthermore, she realizes how influential and amazing this woman is and how empowering to other women and ahead of her time she has always been. For her, her mother is the hardest worker she has ever seen, which she says is missing from her. Leon also says that she inherited her mother's control issues but not her mother's work ethic. Lourdes is Madonna's daughter with ex-boyfriend Carlos Leon, whom she dated from September 1994 to May 1997. The singer also has a 21-year-old son, Rocco Ritchie, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. Her four adopted children are: David Banda (16), Mercy James (15) and twins Estere and Stelle Ciccone (9).
