Make an emoji glass coaster or glass cover from iron beads

In summer we like to sit in the garden with a refreshing drink in our hands! But then bees, wasps, flies and other insects come to the deliciously set table like uninvited guests and want to taste the summer drink. Water rings from the glass on the table can also really ruin our mood. The solution is the colorful glass covers made of perler beads, which have been seen online for several years. These can be perfectly made in the shape of colorful fruits such as lemons and watermelons from perler beads, but today we are giving you another idea - emoji faces! Crafting is not only fun for children, moms also want to join in here and there. Give it a try and maybe use templates to help!

Make emojis and fruits out of iron beads

Emojis have become an integral part of text messages, emails and chat messages. The pictorial characters from Japan are not only intended to reflect an expression of emotion, but also to represent general conditions and activities. New symbols such as hand signals, faces with different skin colors, and objects of all kinds are constantly being added and used by all of us. The most popular emojis are now the happy smiley, the smiling smiley with heart-shaped eyes and the kiss-sending emoji.

Smileys for a sunny mood

The smiley with one eye winking and cheekily sticking out its tongue is used for a joke or to flirt. The smiling faces combined with the sunny yellow color can immediately create a good mood! That's why these motifs are perfect for thiscraft project.

Emojis – The materials required

You will need iron-on beads in bright colors such as yellow, purple, turquoise and black, a square iron-on bead pegboard, tweezers, baking paper and airon. By the way, iron-on beads are available from different manufacturers and can be purchased in individual colors or in a mixed pack. However, you have to choose the right colors from the many ironing beads and there is no guarantee that they will be enough. It's best to get these four colors in separate packages!

Place on the pegboard

In order for you to create the emoji motif perfectly, you also need a suitable template! We have these great ones8 iron-on bead templates on BRIT+COdiscovered and they can also be printed out for free. Place the printed template under the pegboard and start placing the ironing beads onto the pegboard using the tweezers. It's best to work from the center of the pegboard outwards.

The chosen motif is almost finished

Place the baking paper on the ironing bead pegboard

Once the design is finished, set the iron to medium and iron for 30 seconds or until the beads on the top have slightly melted and stuck together. Then slowly peel off the baking paper and let everything cool down. Finally you can remove the glass coaster from the pegboard and iron it from the other side too.

Remove the baking paper and let it cool

Remove the emoji glass coaster from the pegboard

Think about what shapes you want to give your glass coasters. Most emojis and fruits are round like the glasses, but you can also make these cute cacti and romantic rose ones.

Eye-catcher and useful glass coaster for drinks at the same time

The boring glasses can be upgraded in no time with these colorful glass coasters! If you are invited to a garden or barbecue party, these iron-on motifs are perfect as a souvenir for the host.

Make a fruity glass cover

If you want to make a glass cover using perler beads, leave the center of the pattern free so that a straw would fit through. A diameter of approx. 3 beads is sufficient, as the opening should not be too large.

Adjust cover to taste of drink

It would also be a great idea if you coordinate the fruit motifs with the taste of the drink, for example orange for a lemonade or watermelon for a watermelon cocktail.
