Necklace and earrings set
You need:
- Modeling clay in green and white (or gold if desired)
- two blanks for ear studs
- a chain
- a long eyelet
- Glue for jewelry
- shiny varnish for modeling clay
- baking paper
- craft knife
- Oven (except for air-drying modeling clay)
- Take a little each of the white and green modeling clay and knead them separately in your hands for a while until the pieces become soft and malleable. Then add the green to the white piece and knead until the two colors are mixed together to create a marble effect.
- Now add green, white and, if desired, gold to this piece again and knead as before until a marble effect is created. This one is a bit stronger in color. Form an even ball for the necklace pendant.
- In the same way, form two smaller balls for the earrings (both should be the same size). Insert the eyelet into the large ball.
- Cut a piece of the two smaller balls as shown so that you can attach the blanks there later.
- Bake the modeling clay on baking paper in the oven as described on the modeling clay packaging or let it air dry if you have used air-drying modeling clay.
- Finally, spray the balls with the paint. Once this has dried, you can glue the blanks onto the smaller balls.
Woven DIY bead necklace
Although this necklace looks complicated at first glance, it is actually impossible to make. If you would like to make this necklace yourself, you will need the following things:
- Wooden beads
- Nylon cord
- End parts for chain clasps and sleeve
- Spitzzange
- For approx. 1 cm beads you will initially need about 45 cm of string. But it's better to cut off a little more. You can always remove the excess later.
- Thread 12 beads onto the string and keep them in the middle. Thread the opposite end of the string through the last bead. This is how you get the first ring shape (the diagram in the picture above can help to illustrate).
- For the middle ring, thread 5 beads onto each end of the string. Both ends come through another bead.
- The third and last ring is also made from 5 beads each. Thread an eleventh bead onto one of the two ends of the string. Add a clasp sleeve and thread the other end through the clasp and all the beads. Clamp the locking sleeve closed with the pliers and cut off the excess cord at both ends.
- Now combine these three rings with two other models of this type, intertwining them with the middle one. The second diagram shows how you do this. This time you need 140 cm of cord each. Finally, each end has a clasp with which you can close the chain at the neck.
Upcycle old pearl necklaces and bracelets
If you still have a lot of old beaded necklaces and bracelets lying around, you can transform them into interesting pieces of jewelry by combining them with each other and making original necklaces. Of course, you can also purchase new models or start from scratch and get beads to complete this project. If you use old ones, you will need to cut some of them open and thread the beads onto new string to connect them to the other necklaces and bracelets. Finally, tie beautiful string, ribbons or rope to both ends, which you can use to tie the finished necklace to your neck. Of course, if you feel like it, you can also add clasps to make closing easier.
Instructions with shells
Do you have a few shells left over that you don't have any particular use for? They are probably too good for you to just throw away. And you don't have to, because you can make pretty necklaces and bracelets out of them. However, larger shells would be more annoying when worn in the form of bracelets and are therefore better suited for necklaces. If you make such jewelry yourself, simply provide the shells with holes through which you can then thread any string or ribbon. Since the cord will be visible here, it is recommended to use a nice model. Also tie a knot after each shell so that the shells don't all slip into the middle when you wear them. You can also provide a larger shell with an eyelet or a jump ring through which you can then thread the chain. You now have a homemade trailer.
Make your own wooden earrings
If you want to make jewelry from natural materials, these plywood models are great. A variety of models can be produced. It's best to make several at the same time to get the perfect jewelry for different outfits.
- thin birch plywood board
- Xacto knife or scissors
- Glue
- any colors
- Paint brush
- Ohrhaken
- Binderinge
- Spitzzange
- Drill tip
- Lineal
- Pencil
- Cut any shapes out of the plywood sheet. Here you can let your imagination run wild.
- You can then design the shapes in any color you want. If you would like to have several layers like in the picture above, simply glue the shapes together as you wish. Alternatively, the wooden shapes can also be connected to each other using binding rings.
- Using a very thin drill tip, make a hole in the top of the pendant and attach an ear hook. The easiest way to open and close jump rings is with needle-nose pliers.
