Crafting with children for Father's Day: These simple and cool craft ideas will make every dad happy!

A few weeks after Mother's Day, Father's Day comes and we honor another important person in our lives. Help your little ones give their dad a little joy by making Father's Day gifts with the kids. It doesn't have to be anything expensive or complicated to express your gratitude and show your love to your father. Homemade things are a wonderful idea. So get started right away by first choosing an idea from our suggestions. What fun crafts could you make with your children for Father's Day?

You can use simple pebbles to create a cute wall mural that Dad can also place on his desk if he works in an office. The base must definitely be stable as the stones are quite heavy. What you need:

  • Pebbles (one smaller than the other and, if possible, with a flatter side)
  • Googly eyes
  • Hot glue
  • Edding
  • Picture frame (you don't need the glass)
  • Cardboard

Notice: Instead of picture frames and cardboard, you can also use a canvas. If you wish, you can also paint the stones with clear varnish beforehand to give them shine.

Paint and glue stones

If you would like to make a Father's Day gift like this, first prepare the stones by adding wiggly eyes to them and drawing a smiling mouth on each with the Sharpie. Then use the hot glue to glue the stones to the selected surface and let the glue dry thoroughly. Then just draw arms and legs with the Sharpie, with the two stones preferably holding hands.

Idea for fathers with green thumbs

It's not just women who like to take care of plants. If the dad is also a plant lover, the son or daughter can give him a new plant - from the heart. But of course not in a boring store-bought planter, but in a homemade one.

In principle, you can of course choose any motif that you think is appropriate. In our example you can see a simple bear that you can make from a plastic bottle. Just make sure the diameter is large enough to accommodate the plant.

  • plastic bottle
  • Plant with a pot that fits in the bottle
  • Carpet knife or cutter
  • Spray paints/acrylic paints

How to make the planter

An adult should definitely do the cutting, as this requires a sharp knife (e.g. carpet knife). Cut off the top part in the desired shape (with ears). The background color is then best applied using spray paint. Once this is dry, the child can paint it however they want. Acrylic paints are well suited for this. Of course, you can also help here if you make the planter for Father's Day with children. Let the paint dry, place the plant inside and maybe add a nice card with a greeting (how about “Dad, you are strong as a bear!”?).

You can also use other elements to decorate the bottle - lids, buttons, plush wire. How to get a unique gift for Father's Day.

Make a greeting card for Father's Day with children out of paper

A greeting card comes from the heart and can be made quickly and easily by a child, depending on their age, with help - especially if a handprint is used as a basis, as in this example. The print is transformed into a lion, but of course you can choose other motifs here too. Let your imagination run wild. This is how it's done:

  • Cardboard box for the card
  • Cardboard for the mane
  • orange and brown finger paint
  • black Sharpie
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Make a lion card for Father's Day with children - instructions

Paint your child's hand with the orange paint and make a print on the cardstock for the card (or on regular paper that you will later cut out and glue to the card). Let the paint dry and then use a brush and brown paint to paint on the other accents - the tip of the tail and toes.

Cut out a flower shape from the cardboard for the mane, then paint the head and ears in orange. Glue the head to the handprint and draw the face with the Sharpie.

If you don't want to paint the head separately, you can also use the template from the link below and print out a finished head, which you then just have to cut out and glue on. In this case you will receive a lion as seen in the image above.

This idea is also ideal for Father's Day crafts in kindergarten.

Card for grill masters

If your dad is a passionate griller, you can use this theme to make an original card and give it as a gift. All you have to do is cut a circle out of black craft cardboard and glue a smaller one out of white paper in the middle. The white part is for labeling. Then fold the circle in half and add the legs made of simple gray stripes.

Draw hand outlines on red and orange paper and cut them out - these will be the flames of the fire. Finally, add the spatula and the card is ready to be written on. Although the craft idea is very simple, you can also use the templates from the link below to help you.
