A cork elf
You can make interesting things with corks. One of them is this onecute Christmas elf, which is suitable both as decoration and for playing. You don't need a lot of materials either. If you are missing some of the materials, you can quickly replace them with others. Let your imagination run wild.
You need:
– 1 wine cork
– 2 shish kebab skewers
– 2 toothpicks
– 4 beads made of any material
– Felt
– a pair of scissors
– a pair of pinking shears
– 2 black pins
– Glue
– Washi-Tape
- Form a cylinder out of a small piece of felt to serve as a hat for the elf. The diameter should correspond to that of the cork. You create the hem by gluing the fabric together with glue. If the bottom edge is uneven, you can trim it with scissors.
- You can then cut a thin ribbon out of felt in a different color to surround the hat. To make this ribbon look more interesting, you can use pinking shears to cut it out. If necessary, normal scissors can also do the job.
- Then put some glue on the inside bottom edge of the hat and stick it to the cork.
- The black pins serve as eyes. Insert this into the cork.
- Now cut out another, wider band from the felt material. Since this is going to be the scarf, it should be long enough for you to wrap around and tie. Add fringe to both ends if you wish. To make the scarf hold better, you can also glue it to the back of your neck. The same applies to the node. This will ensure that the scarf does not unravel.
- Insert the two toothpicks on either side of the cork. This way you form the arms. If necessary, shorten the toothpicks to approx. 2.5 cm long. You can design the hands with the beads that you attach to the outer end with glue.
- The legs should be a little longer. Once you have determined the appropriate length, cut the kebab skewers to size and insert the pointed end into the cork from below. Beads again serve as feet. These can also have a different shape than the hands. Fix them with glue.
A reindeer made of candy canes
This funny reindeer comes with several benefits. The idea is not just suitable for decoration. Your children can also make their friends happy with it. In addition, the reindeer can also be eaten. And what child doesn't love sweets?
You need:
– 5 candy canes
– brown pipe cleaner
– brown felt fabric
– red felt fabric
– a ribbon
– Adhesive tape
- Place two candy canes together. This way you create two of the four legs. Wrap them with tape to secure the frame. Repeat with two more candy canes.
- Then glue these two pairs of legs together with adhesive tape as shown. The reindeer body is created.
- The fifth candy cane goes in the middle of the body. It should run diagonally upwards, with the curved end at the top. Also attach this candy cane with tape.
- Since the tape looks pretty unattractive, it should be hidden. To do this, wrap it with a piece of brown felt. Make a round saddle out of the red felt. Glue the fabrics in place or tie them with a piece of ribbon.
- Finally, use the pipe cleaner to shape the antlers and attach them to the curved end of the fifth candy cane. This way you form the head and finish the reindeer.
Christmas tree decorations
You probably know that many items that you would normally throw away can be used for great craft ideas. A great example is this Christmas tree, which can be made from almost used up colored pencils. The colorful tree as an idea for Christmas crafts with children can then be used as a Christmas tree decoration, but also makes a good decoration for the Christmas card or as a pendant for the Christmas bouquet.
You need:
– 7 colored pencils
– Craft glue or a hot glue gun
– a knife
– a star made of foam or another material
– a ribbon or pipe cleaner
- The colored pencils are cut into four different sizes to form a pyramid. To do this, use the knife. To do this, add one cut at a time at the desired location. The lower end can then simply be broken off. But this should be done by an adult. You can sharpen the colored pencils beforehand to make them look better.
- Then arrange the colored pencils in a pyramid shape and glue the pencils together.
- You can then put the star on the top tip if it is made of foam. Otherwise, use the glue again.
- Tie a ribbon or pipe cleaners to hang the Christmas tree.
