DIY pompoms: How do I make pompoms myself?

Small and large pompoms should not be missing from any costume or carnival outfit. They are a perfect addition and are also very easy to make. You don't need much for this: scraps of wool or yarn in any color, a piece of cardboard, sharp scissors and a compass. You have to choose the circle depending on the size of the pompom you want. Now use the compass to draw two circles of the same size and cut out the shape so that two equal rings are created. To make it easier to wrap the pompom, you can cut out a small piece of the ring. Then place the two cardboard rings on top of each other and gradually wrap them evenly with yarn. When there is a very small opening in the middle, cut out the wool on the long side between the two rings. Before removing the pieces of cardboard, pull a long thread through them and tie it tightly. Finally, the cardboard rings are removed and the pom-pom is “styled” nicely round.

DIY little pompoms

For very small pompoms, it is recommended to use fine thread, preferably embroidery or silk thread. All you need is a fork with four prongs. Now tie the yarn tightly in the middle and wrap it around the entire fork into a fat bundle. Then you tie it in the middle with a thread and remove it from the fork. Finally, cut the resulting loops and this will make the mini pompom nice and fluffy. You can trim it a bit with scissors to make it spherical.
