Becoming a princess is the dream of many little girls. That's why the princess theme is so popular not only for decorating children's rooms, but also for children's birthdays and costume parties. And since every real princess wears a crown or tiara, we have collected a few lovely craft ideas in this article. Read below how you can make a princess crown and give your daughter great joy.
This year your little girl decided toto be a princess at carnival? Then you can get to work and make the costume or parts of it yourself. For the crown, for example, you don't need any experience or special materials and tools. There are a lot of craft ideas for this that the children can also get involved with.
The easiest way to make a princess crown is out of paper or cardboard. A template or stencil can be helpful, but is not a must. Because you can also draw a simple jagged crown yourself, right? If you have also decided on a craft project with paper/cardboard, then proceed as follows:
1. Measure the child's head circumference and then determine the length of the template. Tip: The length should be approx. 2 cm larger than the circumference of the head.
2. Trace the template onto the paper/cardboard and cut out the crown in a jagged shape.
3. Stick colorful rhinestones on the children's crown and decorate as desired.
4. To secure the princess crown, pin both ends of the paper with a clip.
If the costume is for an ice princess, then you can decorate the crown with snowflakes in blue or silver. A really easy princess crown can be made from a simple hair band. Simply glue the selected decorative elements onto it using the hot glue and let it dry for at least 1 hour.
Made of lace
Lace crowns look very elegant and noble. If you are dyed in a metallic color, you will look in no way inferior to the real thing. With such a headdress your daughter will surely feel like a real princess. Below we will show you what you need and how you can recreate these beautiful children's crowns.
What you need:
- Great
- Textilversteifer
- spray paint
- Glue
- round object (optional)
- Glitter stones and decorative elements of your choice
Here's how:
There are two methods for making the lace crown. You can either shape the tip using a round object, or first harden it with textile stiffener and then shape it like a crown. Regardless of the method you choose, first determine the length you need for the tip and trim. Now coat the tip with textile hardener on both sides and let it dry. Then all that remains is to dye the children's crown in the desired color and decorate it as you wish.
When you make and decorate a princess crown, you can match the colors and decorative elements to the costume. If your little girl dresses up as an ice princess, colors like blue, white and silver are best. For other princesses, however, pink and pink are preferable.
Any decorations that can be glued to them or attached in some way are suitable for decorating the crowns. Glittering stones, feathers, sequins and all kinds of beads make the homemade crown something special. If you need some creative ideas, just ask the child for help.
Simple crown made from pipe cleaners
Are you looking for oneLast minute idea for carnival, then you can make a simple princess crown out of pipe cleaners. Since the pipe cleaners are made of wire, they can be shaped quickly and easily. And all without the use of glue or staples.
All you need for this princess crown are a few pipe cleaners of any color and a pair of scissors. First, twist 2-3 pipe cleaners together to create the headband for the tiara. If it is a real crown, you should bend the pipe cleaners into a circle so that it fits on the child's head. Once the shape is ready, you can now decorate the children's crown. For the classic jagged shape, bend all pipe cleaners into a triangle shape by making a small loop at the top and then attach the triangles to the already finished base. Instead of loops, you can decorate the tips of the crown with pompoms.
You can also make the crown for your princess a little smaller and then attach it to a headband. This way it stands firmly on its head and there is no risk of it falling during the fun birthday orCarnival gamesfalls down.
Made from felt: great ideas without sewing
You can also make a pretty princess crown out of craft felt. We have provided two wonderful ideas from this material for you. Neither requires a sewing machine or experience with a needle and thread. For the first one you need a headband in a matching color as additional material. In this case it is more of a princess tiara than a crown. For this you need felt in two different (but matching) colors, the headband, hot glue gun and some rhinestones for decoration.
First cut out the base for the crown/tiara from the darker felt. You can see what the cut piece should look like in the picture above. If you leave one side a little larger, you can cut out the excess felt later so that the crown ultimately looks the same from both sides. Finally, glue everything together and decorate the small piece of felt with a few sparkling stones. Complete!
Here you will find another great craft idea for the princess crown made of felt. It is made only from felt and elastic cord and is therefore perfect for toddlers and babies as it is very soft. First, draw a simple crown template like this one in the picture and cut out two identical pieces of felt using the template.
Now glue both pieces of felt together with the rubber strand in between. This creates an elastic hair band that is comfortable even for the little ones. You can decorate the handmade crown as you wish and adapt it to the costume.
We wish you lots of fun and good luck!
