As you know, carnival is usually quite fresh. Therefore, the costume should be as suitable as possible for the weather. A hoodie is everyday clothing that you usually already have at home and is the perfect basis for a variety of costume ideas. The hoodie is suitable for carnival costumes for both adults and children. Depending on your idea, you may need a few accessories and materials for additional design for a disguise without a costume. What can I dress up as for Carnival if I have a hoodie?
Sonic costume made from normal clothes and a few details
Because of the new film, Sonic the hedgehog from the video game of the same name is very popular again - both among children and among adults who associate it with their childhood. You need:
- blue hoodie
- white, blue and yellow craft cardboard
- Adhesive tape (regular and double-sided)
- Scissors
A notice:Instead of paper, you can also use felt or foam rubber for crafting. These can also be sewn onto the fabric, which makes the whole thing more durable than glued-on paper.
You only need to make a few minor changes to the hoodie:
- Cut out a circle or oval shape from the white paper.
- Stick them to the belly of the hoodie with double-sided tape.
- Make ears. To do this, simply take the typical shape of cat ears: For each ear you need a blue and a smaller white element, which you glue together.
- Attach the ears to the hood.
- Now you need 6 curved spikes that represent the hedgehog spines. Cut them out of the blue paper.
- Glue these to the edge of the hood (3 per side), about temple and cheek height.
- Cut a ring out of yellow paper. Complete!
If you want, you can also use blue make-up on the face.

Fun family costumes with a forest theme
Does the hoodie come with matching suit pants? Perfect because then you can implement these fun costume ideas. Whether youfor the whole familychoose, as in the example, or just select one of them, is of course up to you.
Forest gnome for a last minute costume
It really couldn't be easier. If you have children, you probably already have everything you need at home, namely red craft cardboard. If not, you can find some at any craft or stationery store. You may need a rubber band so that the dwarf hat has a better hold.
- Shape the paper into a cone.
- Tape the paper together with glue or double-sided tape to prevent it from rolling up again.
- Trim any excess paper at the opening to create an even edge.
- Punch holes in the edges of the open side in two opposite places.
- Tie the rubber tightly. Alternatively, you can tape it inside with adhesive tape or attach it with a stapler.
Mushrooms for children and adults
A hoodie and matching suit pants and you'll transform into a mushroom stalk - in white, beige or brown, depending on the type of mushroom. You can make a mushroom hat yourself in a variety of ways. In the example it is made of papier-mâché, which was then painted with acrylic paints, and fabric. But you can also use cardboard and textile, as in the instructionsin this article.
You can even incorporate LED fairy lights into the hats so that the costume can later glow in the dark.
A beautiful butterfly with wings and antennae
Attach cardboard wings to the back of the hoodie to create a cute butterfly. So that the whole thing can pass as a moth, the antennae should be made a little bushier than is the case with a butterfly.
- Cut out four oval elements from paper (it is best to use the first element as a template so that they all turn out the same).
- Glue pipe cleaners between two of these items. Leave a piece of wire sticking out.
- Cut the edges many times.
- You can then wrap the resulting feelers around a headband using the protruding wire.
- Cut the wings out of cardboard and design them in beautiful colors and with interesting patterns.
- You can sew the wings to the hoodie or attach an elastic band so you can put the wings on. You can also have onethese instructionsuse.
Colorful parrot as a disguise without a costume
A costume without a costume, so to speak - this parrot is quick to make and you don't need anything other than felt and glue. The idea is not just great for children. It is also suitable as a partner costume, for example.
- Cut oval shapes out of felt in typical parrot colors. You can first make a template out of normal paper and trace it onto the felt.
- Now glue these shapes, which are supposed to represent the feathers, in rows onto the back and sleeves of the hoodie.
- Start at the bottom hem and work your way up. Also remember to spread some of the feathers on the hood.
- Make sure each new row slightly overlaps the previous one.
- Finally, make two eyes out of two large white felt circles and two small black ones for the pupils, as well as a yellow beak.
- Glue the eyes to the front of the hood. Attach the beak underneath and between the eyes. This should protrude slightly from the hood and downwards.
