Digital Halloween window decoration with projector for spooky effects at night

Decorations undoubtedly play a big role on Halloween. This doesn't just mean the decoration inside but especially outside, because this will also impress neighbors and walkers or even the children on Halloween who go around the houses looking for sweets. Window pictures and decorations are particularly effective. And the idea from AtmosFX for a Halloween window decoration that we would like to present to you in this article will simply blow you away. This is a digital decoration that uses projectors. These are constructed and aligned in a special way to make the window an eye-catcher in a breathtaking and real-looking way. In this article we would also like to introduce you to the tricks you can use and which additional things and materials are suitable for achieving a unique window design.

Of course, the window you choose should ideally be clearly visible from the street or front yard. This doesn't have to mean that it has to be the largest window in the house. On the contrary, the location of the window is much more important. It may be that you have a much smaller window that is much easier to see from outside and is therefore better suited for Halloween window decorations. If the decoration is easy to see, you will later be amazed at how many people passing by will approach it to find out how you implemented this decoration.

Not only windows are suitable, but also glass doors. If your front door is made of glass or you have a porch with a glass door that the children will later enter, this is the perfect “canvas” for your digital Halloween decorations. Depending on the motif you have chosen, the decoration should best be designed in real size to achieve the best effect. For this purpose, the projector is simply placed on one of its sides.

Windows that do not have a typical rectangular or square shape are particularly suitable for this, provided of course they are on a visible facade. Bay windows, for example, are well suited for this. The selected window is then covered with a fabric for project planning. This fabric should take up the entire window. This gives you, so to speak, a flat screen on which the desired motif can be displayed. Furthermore, not only special screens can be used for project planning. Glass and plastic surfaces are also suitable, as are white walls. At a Halloween party, you can scare your guests by projecting a ghost, zombie or other scary image onto the shower wall.

However, with windows you need a screen that can capture the light emitted. Otherwise the light would simply shine through the glass and then scatter. However, an ordinary canvas is not recommended because it is too dense. The golden mean must be chosen so that the light is captured but can still be seen through the material from outside. It is therefore best to choose a semi-transparent material. This allows you to create the perfect Halloween window decoration for a spooky atmosphere. The AtmosFX company offers special screens that have already been tested and are guaranteed to offer the best results. There are two variants to choose from that were specifically developed for digital decoration.

AtmosFX's canvases are called AtmosGEAR and are purchased once because they are always reusable. They are quick and easy to attach and remove, with all sizes and shapes available. There is also another feature that is definitely worth mentioning and that is the affordable price. Despite the good quality of the screen, it was developed in such a way that it can be obtained cheaply for just under 20 dollars. Your window or window frame will not be damaged during installation. The very light nylon fabric can be securely stuck directly to the window or window frame with adhesive or insulating tape. The fabric can be cut to size as desired and adapted to your window. After Halloween, the fabric can be easily folded up and then unpacked for the next occasion. You can also project pretty pictures on the window to match Christmas, New Year's Eve or Easter.

The canvas can be stretched as desired or folded like a curtain. That depends entirely on the effect you want to achieve. If the fabric has wrinkles, you can use it to project shadows and silhouettes onto the window and it will look like someone is sneaking around your house. HD images should be projected onto a tightly stretched screen so that the entire image can be displayed. Of course, you can also use both variants for Halloween window decorations on different windows.

Once you have obtained the necessary materials and a suitable canvas, there are a few other things you should consider. So that the Halloween window decoration can be seen clearly, there should not be too much additional light in the garden. Sometimes no light at all is not possible, so just follow the rule: the darker the better.” To do this, you can either turn off the light or temporarily replace the light bulbs with darker ones (e.g. red). The same applies to the lighting inside the house. The room in which you installed the digital decoration should also be dark. For this purpose, you can separate open living spaces, even temporarily, with dark curtains or sheets. If the projector is in the living room but you want to use the dining area, separate the two areas. You can concentrate the projector's light better by covering the other windows in the same room with blinds or curtains.

Of course, the distance of the projector from the window and the angle of the light also need to be taken into account. Firstly, so that the motif for the Halloween window decoration looks real and also so that the beam of light from the projector cannot be seen by those outside. If this has happened to you, it's best to stand outside the window and think about the best way to move the projector. A variant would be to set up the projector below or above the window. Try this and then check again from outside. Sometimes an inclined position is the better choice. However, this angle can cause the subject to become distorted. Fortunately, most projectors have a setting that can correct this.
