For the upcoming Halloween or a carnival or theme party, both adults and children can dress up as a purple Minion. Regardless of whether you want to make a Minion costume yourself in small or large format, the purple Minion costume should look as similar as possible to the tiny wild creature from the popular film. As children's costumes for Halloween

A full-body purple Minion costume can also be put together from everyday clothes and ordinary items with a few additions. To transform into an evil minion for Halloween, you will need a long-sleeved top, black dungarees or black overalls. Black shoes or boots and black gloves are also necessary for your creative outfit.

The evil Minions dungarees have an El Macho logo on the front, which is a specific feature of the little wild creature. Instead of the symbol “G” for Gru, which the yellow Minions wear on their chests, there is an “M” on the Evil Minion’s dungarees. As you can guess, it stands for El Macho. For the “M” logo, you can make a template and transfer it to paper, fabric or foam, cut it out and attach it to the black dungarees (glue or sew it).

The purple Minions have long arms that bend backwards. If you are not satisfied with a long-sleeved top and want to have extra-long arms just like the purple Minions, you can sew thin, long tubes out of purple fabric. Then fill the long fabric arms with fiberfill and sew gloves or mittens on the ends. Old and unusable children's gloves are ideal for this. If you want to wear a top or T-shirt as a top, you can paint the uncovered parts of the body such as the cleavage or arms with purple face paint.

For an authentic appearance, you must have purple hair. For example, if you have short hair length, you can use a purple hairspray. If that's not a solution for you, a wig in this color would be a great option. The crazier your Minion hair styling looks, the better. Whether it's a tousled head or combed straight with a middle part, the purple hair is a must for your Minion costume.

The right make-up is also important for the evil look. Use face paints that are water-soluble and can be easily removed later. For a purple Minion costume for a child, you can of course skip the face paint if you don't think the color is safe or if it's a carnival costume for a baby. Also forget about the big, crooked, frightening monster teeth that stick out of the mouth.

The quickest and easiest way is to get false teeth or plastic dentures. For young children who won't be able to wear the big Minions eyes or put on teeth, there are many great alternatives that will help the young ones transform into cute, yet evil purple creatures for the coming Halloween night. The most important Minions accessories are undoubtedly the thick glasses.

Whether you have one or two eyes, you can design the large Minion glasses from an empty toilet paper or kitchen paper roll, an elastic band and silver dishwashing paint. Thermo cups made of Styrofoam can also be used for glasses. Simply cut two equal-sized rings from the cups and attach them to the elastic band. If you wear the Minions eyes on your head and not as glasses, two-piece mason jar lids will also serve you well.

A simple guide for the Minion costume

Next, we would like to present you with instructions for a fascinating purple Minion costume for adults and children, with which you will attract everyone's attention on Halloween night. The purple Minion suit requires more handwork than the ideas listed above, but is certainly worth it and can be worn again next year. The following materials are required for this costume idea:

large plastic bowl for the head
Purple cardboard for the body
Cotton wool, synthetic hair, pipe cleaners or net
purple spray paint
black elastic band for glasses
black fabric or felt for the Minion dungarees
optional: purple, soft and stretchy fabric for the long hanging arms
little black mittens
optional: transparent fabric to cover the mouth opening
silver spray paint for the “M” logo
Purple felt-tip pen for the Minions eyes
two large black buttons
two empty aluminum cans for the glasses (alternatively: one of the options already mentioned)
tape
drill
Scissors or cutter knife

To make the costume, you will first need to place the plastic bowl with the opening facing down and spray it with the purple spray paint. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly. Next, you can drill the multiple holes in the bowl so that you can pull the Minions hair through the holes. This gives the hair more hold, especially if you attach the ends from the inside of the bowl with glue or tape. It's best to drill from the inside out to avoid breaking the bowl. Now you can push the material for the shaggy minion hair through the holes. A large paper clip or a thin, sturdy object can be very helpful in this crafting step. Now you can color the hair with the purple spray paint.

Next you need to measure the craft cardboard and cut it to size. The purple body should reach approximately your waist. You have to be able to wrap the cardboard around yourself practically once and also feel comfortable in the cardboard tube. The pipe must therefore not be too narrow. After all, you don't just have to put on and take off the purple Minion costume once. Now you need to form the two ends of the cardboard into a tube using several strips of adhesive tape. Be generous with the tape. You also need to attach the pipe to the plastic bowl.

Assess the position of the arms and cut out two holes for the arms at these points. Remember that there should be enough space for the glasses and mouth above the armholes. Determine what height the opening for the eyes will be and cut out another hole. Make some teeth out of white cardboard and attach them from the inside of the pipe. Also attach the transparent black mesh from the inside of the mouth and devote yourself to making the Minions eyes and glasses.

Below you can see two variants. Glue the “eye tape” and attach the eyes to it. Next, you can create the dungarees out of black fabric or felt. Also glue both buttons on the suspenders. Use an aluminum can to draw a circle for the “M” logo. You can determine the length of the fabric for the dungarees as you wish. The black Minion dungarees can be as long as the body or reach down to the knees. If you don't have fabric, you can alternatively cut the dungarees out of paper and glue them to the body.

For your great and unique purple Minion costume, all you have to do is make the long arms. Use a soft and stretchy fabric. And your villain Minions costume is ready. You can be sure that you will be in the spotlight and captivate the eyes of others throughout the Halloween party.
