How to hang a wreath on the door, wall, window or ceiling (without drilling)?

There are various alternatives, but whether and how well they work depends on the surface or location of the wreath and on the weight of the wreath. So these are factors that you should definitely take into account when attaching it if you don't want your party wreath to fall down any time soon. For example, rough wood is treated differently than smooth, painted wood or a plastered wall. We'll show you a few ways you can hang your wreath without drilling - on the front door, wall or ceiling.

Probably the gentlest option are special hooks that are simply placed on the door from above. Usually the hook portion is the standard thickness of a front door, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a size that fits.

It is also practical that the hooks are available in double versions so that you can use them on both sides of the door at the same time. These have a U-shape, so to speak, which ends in both directions with a hook for hanging up. Additionally, these hooks are usually made of steel, which makes them very sturdy, so you can hang even a very heavy door wreath on them.

Only disadvantage: The metal part above the actual hook is visible. If this fact bothers you, you can also choose the following option:

Stick adhesive hooks on the door

The fact that there are hooks that can be stuck to a variety of surfaces using double-sided tape will be nothing new to you. And while they can actually hold quite a bit of weight and are certainly worth choosing, you should still have a fewDisadvantagesthink:

  • The tape is usually difficult to remove. So on a painted door, tearing it off could also damage the paint, especially if the hook is exposed to the hot sun.
  • The adhesives are quite resilient, but still cannot keep up with the metal hooks described above. So if you want to hold a heavy wreath, you should choose another option.

Speaking of gluing:In the picture above you can see how just clear tape was used to attach the door wreath.

Use inner hooks for the outside

Do you have a metal hook, as described above, on the inside of the door and are you already using it for hanging decorations? No problem, it can still be used on the outside without attracting attention.

Simply tie clear twine to it that is long enough to reach the other side of the door and hold the wreath at whatever height you want. The yarn will hardly be noticeable, especially from a distance. Alternatively, a nice decorative ribbon is also suitable. In this case, there must be a hook attached to the wreath itself or you can tie the string/ribbon around the wreath.

Disadvantage: Every time the door moves or there is wind, the wreath attached in this way will move. It is therefore recommended to hold this in place with a small piece of double-sided tape.

Attach to the window and wall

The conditions are pretty similar for both places: hooks for hanging cannot always be used on the window and not on the wall anyway.

  • Window

You can use the curtain rod if you have one and tie the window frame directly there with a long enough string. An adhesive hook is also possible. However, keep in mind that this will be visible from the outside unless you also attach a wreath to the outside and in the same places. If you don't want to risk having to scrape adhesive residue off the window later, you can also use hooks with suction cups. Then the decorative wreath shouldn't be too heavy.

The wall presents an even greater challenge if you don't want to drill through it or hammer a nail into it (which would be the easiest and most reliable option). Hooks with double-sided adhesive tape are probably the best option here, but are not possible on every type of surface. For example, rough stone walls, brick or coarse plaster are unsuitable (smooth walls should be cleaned of any dust beforehand).

Silicone is also a variant, but some of it will remain on the wall as soon as you remove the decorative wreath. Although this can be removed using various means, not everyone has the desire to endure it after every season and decoration change.

You can also use the blanket. Attach your decoration there and leave it directly on the wall orhanging down from the window. Since in this case the string on which the wreath will hang will also be very long, you can try to choose either one that is transparent or one with a decorative character.

Hang a wreath from the ceiling

This is a very popular decoration idea if you want to decorate the table but also keep it free at the same time. In addition, the hanging design is simply interesting and will undoubtedly attract everyone's attention. Maybe you already have one or twohanging Advent wreathHave you seen it and would you like to try it this way this year? That doesn't surprise us!

How to hang the wreath from the ceiling?

For the ceiling, an adhesive hook (or eyes if the hanging wreath already has a hook on the four cords) may be an option if the wreath is not too heavy, which depends on the type and amount of materials used. If you plan to hang decorations in this spot in the future, it may be worth considering drilling instead.

Or maybe you already have a lamp or chandelier hanging in the middle above the table to which you could possibly tie the festive wreath.
