How to make the ornaments:

  • Lay out a large piece of parchment paper and place a large piece of dough in the center. Place another large piece of paper on top.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of 3 mm. Ornaments that are too thick tend to splinter or break easily due to the resulting air pockets.
  • Remove the top sheet of parchment paper and then use cookie cutters to cut out the dough. The cut out pieces should remain on the parchment paper.
  • Use a straw to poke a hole in the top of each ornament to attach a ribbon for hanging.
  • Use whatever you have on hand to structure the ornaments: forks, straws, rubber stamps, other cookie cutters, scissors.
  • Then place the baking paper and the molds on a baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 150°C for about an hour. They are ready when they feel firm. Allow the ornaments to cool completely before moving on to the next step.

  • You can also let the ornaments air dry, but this takes more time and effort. The drying process will likely take a few days depending on how thick the ornaments are.
  • Now comes the really fun part – decorating! Before you begin decorating, spray all cooled ornaments with a thin coat of white spray paint. This helps to hide color imperfections. Once the spray paint is dry, you can paint with acrylic paints and brushes. Wherever you want glitter, you can use glitter glue.
