There are a total of 16 micro and macronutrients that need fruit trees to grow healthy and strongly and to wear plenty of fruits. These are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, potassium, nitrogen, sulfur, calcium, iron, magnesium, chlorine, boron, copper, manganese, zinc and molybdenum.

In spring, fruit trees mainly need nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and maybe some calcium - especially the macronutrients. A good idea is to test the pH of the soil and have the soil structure checked in a laboratory. In this way, deficiencies can be determined at an early stage and covered by fertilizers.

Defects can also be determined later due to the growth image - but then it is already too late to cover them by fertilizing.

If you want to do without fertilizers completely, you can supply the soil with ripe compost instead. This should be incorporated into the earth at least 6 to 8 weeks before the flowering period of the trees. Because compost is decomposed over a longer period of time.

In the case of fruit like cherries and peaches, the flowers open first and only then does the growth period begin. NPK fertilizer is well suited, which are a mixture of 10 parts of nitrogen, 10 parts phosphorus and 10 parts of potassium.

Unlike stone fruit, core fruit trees such as apples and pears first drive out vigorously and then form their flowers. A combination of leaf fertilizers and natural fertilizers proves to be optimal for you. The leaf fertilizer delivers important calcium and can significantly improve the fruit quality and durability of the fruits. The natural fertilizer can also be made. Simply for this purpose:

  • 70 liters of mature garden compost
  • 80 g – 90 g Hornmehl

Mix well and incorporate into the root area of ​​the trees.

  • Add rock flour only if necessary to regulate the pH of the soil. Diaba flour is used when the pH is below the recommended 6.5-7. If the floor in the orchard is alkaline (over 7), the basalt flour is ideal.

In addition, a leaf fertilizer can supply the fruit trees with calcium. Duments that have grown in a low -calcium floor carry fruits with a bitter taste. The leaves are sprayed with the leaf fertilizer every 10 days. The first application can take place immediately after the end of the flowering period.
