Fertilize peonies: When and with which fertilizer for really beautiful flowers?

Peonies (Paeonia) are long-lasting perennials that beautify the garden with their magnificent flowers and dark green leaves. No matter what species you grow in the garden, proper fertilization will promote abundant flowering and the plant will grow healthily year after year. So today we would like to explain when and with what you should fertilize your peonies so that they thrive and reward you with strong budding and large flowers every spring.

When and how often do you have to fertilize peonies?

With the right care, it is not at all complicated to grow beautiful, blooming peonies. If the location and soil are right so that the roots are not disturbed, the magnificent plant will feel comfortable and bloom every year. Proper fertilization also contributes to this, which should be done once or twice a year at most.

In principle, there are two best times to fertilize peonies - in early spring, when the new growth on the stems is approx. 30-40 cm high, or immediately after the flowers have faded. Both times offer advantages for the plant and although you can fertilize at both times, one fertilization per year is completely sufficient.
