Instructions: DIY mini garden made of succulents in a picture frame
Now we'll go into step by step how you can make such a mini garden of succulents in a picture frame yourself. Use plants of different shapes and sizes to create real works of art!
Steps 1 and 2: Preparing the frame and attaching the wire mesh
Start by mounting the wooden frame on the back of the picture frame. This creates the necessary depth for your plants to grow. Make sure the wooden frame fits snugly and is sturdy as it will need to support the weight of the soil and plants.
Once the frame is prepared, stretch the wire mesh over the front of the wooden frame and secure it with wire staples. The net serves as a holder for the succulents and should therefore fit tightly and securely.
Steps 3 and 4: Attach the back wall and paint the frame
Nail the plywood or MDF board to the back of the wooden frame. This prevents soil from leaking and gives the whole thing additional stability.
Now you can paint the outer picture frame in the color of your choice. Choose a color that goes well with your decor and plants. Allow the frame to dry thoroughly before continuing.
Steps 5 and 6: Fill with soil and plant the succulents
Carefully fill soil into the frame. Use a small shovel or funnel to spread the soil evenly without damaging the wire mesh.
Now comes the most creative part: planting the succulents. Carefully place the plants through the mesh of the net and press them firmly into the soil. Make sure each plant has enough space to grow.
Step 7: Care tips for the succulent mini garden
Succulents don't require a lot of water. Moisten the soil well once after planting and then only sparingly as needed. Place the frame in a location that receives bright, indirect sunlight.
