Get the oven racks clean again

No matter what type of oven you have, the best way to clean the racks is to remove them completely from the oven and soak them in boiling water with a little dishwashing liquid. You can also soak the oven racks in the bathtub, but you should probably scrub the tub afterward. Scrub the racks with a stiff brush, let them soak for two hours, then rinse and dry before putting them back in the oven.

If the racks are already in the bathtub, you can use this time effectively and clean the other parts of the oven. Here's a comprehensive guide to cleaning your oven's dirty glass:

  1. Grab a microfiber cloth, paper towels, vinegar, baking soda, dish soap, an empty spray bottle, and a clean cloth to wipe the burnt-on grease from your oven's glass door.
  2. To clean the inside of your oven's glass door, simply open the door and wipe it with a paper towel.
  3. Make a cleaning paste by mixing 100g baking soda and 250ml water.
  4. Wipe up remaining oil and dirt with a damp microfiber cloth dipped in hot dish soap water.
  5. Coat the inside of your oven's glass door with the baking soda cleaning paste. The paste should remain on the oven door for at least 15-20 minutes.
  6. To get the oven door clean again, carefully scrape off the burnt-on grease and long-standing dirt with a glass scraper.
  7. To remove the paste, rinse the microfiber cloth and soak it again in hot dish soap water. To remove the remaining paste from the oven door, fill a spray bottle with vinegar and lightly mist the door.
  8. Remove any dirt with the microfiber cloth. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to polish the oven glass door.

Lemon juice is an excellent disinfectant because of the citric acid it contains. Squeeze the juice of three or four lemon halves into an ovenproof bowl or baking dish to disinfect the bottom of the oven. The peels should also be placed in the container and the water level should be just under half. Bake this remedy at 120 degrees Celsius for about 40-50 minutes.

The heated steam and lemon juice loosen stuck-on food particles. Once the oven has cooled, you can scrub away any stains with a sponge and some elbow strength.
