Ingenious freezer bag hacks that every hobby cook should know

Admittedly, even cooking enthusiasts and foodies don't feel like spending hours preparing food after a long day at work. Luckily, there are several tricks that can help. Good preparation is the be-all and end-all of after-work cooking.

Portion ingredients for smoothie and freeze

Delicious and healthy: start the day in a good mood with a smoothie for breakfast. To make things quicker in the morning, you can wash, clean, peel and chop the ingredients at the weekend. Portion the fruits and vegetables and divide them into freezer bags. Then put them in the freezer. Take one bag out of the freezer the day before and chill it. The next morning you can puree or blend the contents of the bag and the smoothie is ready in less than 1 minute!

Smoothie (2 servings):

  • 1 cup pineapple, diced
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 handful of baby spinach

Additionally, add 1 cup of almond milk on the day of preparation. Do not freeze almond milk!

Prepare delicious ice lollies for the children

For the next hack you will need freezer bags and a knife. Heat the knife and use it to cut the freezer bags in half. This gives you two bags of the same size for ice lollies that you can fill as you wish. For example with pureed fruits and juice. Then close the bags and put them in the freezer. The next day the children can enjoy the ice lollies.

Quick recipe for after work: Omelette in a freezer bag

The next omelette is easy to prepare and the perfect recipe for after work. You first mix the eggs with the other ingredients as usual, then pour the egg mixture into the bag. Now close the bag, leaving only about 2 cm open.

You can then carefully suck out the air using a drinking straw. Take the drinking straw out of the bag and seal it airtight. Then bring water to the boil and add the omelette. Let it cook for about 13 to 15 minutes, then open the bag and serve the omelette.

Keep salad fresher for longer in the refrigerator

With the next hack, salads stay fresh and crunchy for longer. Simply wash and clean the lettuce leaves first and rinse them with vinegar. Then rinse again with water and pat the leaves dry on kitchen paper. Then wrap the leaves with kitchen paper and place them in a freezer bag. Keep the food cold and use it over the next few days.

Marinate the meat in the freezer betel

The marinade takes about 12 hours to penetrate the meat and season. You should not freeze marinated meat because the marinade will change the taste. However, you can put the meat in a large freezer bag the day before, add spices, oil and sauces and seal the bag. Shake the bag to mix the ingredients well. Then place the bags in the refrigerator and leave them there overnight. The next day you can fry, grill or bread the meat.
