Cleaning the mini oven: How to remove grease and dirt and quickly make the device shine

Especially now, at a time when we need to save energy, using smaller kitchen appliances more frequently for small meals in between is more advantageous and practical than just turning on the large oven for every small warm-up. For example, the mini oven that we use every day often looks pretty tepid because despite this, we may sometimes neglect cleaning it. In just a few simple steps it is easy to make the good piece sparkle again and make it look like new again. We have some tips for you on how to clean and restore the mini ovenBring shine.

Clean the mini oven: Systematically, quickly and effectively

You have to approach it systematically! So the first step and the second and third are already clear and the unloved, neglected cleaning work can be done in no time. Try this and then all you have to do is keep at it. First make sure that the device is cold and that you have unplugged it from the socket.

Step 1: Remove breadcrumbs

First, clear the bottom of the device of breadcrumbs orother contaminants. If you have a built-in toaster in the mini oven, or another type of removable base, remove it and clean it. To do this, use a soft cloth or sponge without abrasive surfaces. Then rinse it with warm water using a little dishwashing detergent. Allow the base piece to drain and then dry it well before putting it back into the device.

Step 2: Cleaning the glass door

If you can no longer see through the oven door, it's high time to do something. The glass door of the mini ovenis a good indicator that something needs to be done urgently! If the inside of the door looks a bit dirty, it means that the inside of the device is most likely dirty too. You can clean the interior and the glass pane with this soft cloth and somethingwarm soapy waterwash off. For the sake of completeness, please never immerse the electrical device in water or hold it under running water. Take out the inside, i.e. small baking trays and the rack, and put them in warm, soapy water. Allow them to soak for perhaps 10 minutes and then rinse them off. Allow to drain and dry thoroughly before use.

Tip: Clean the mini oven with home remedies

If the greasy layer does not come off with soapy water, make a slurry of 1 tablespoon baking soda, 3 tablespoons warm water, a splash of dishwashing liquid and aDash of vinegarApply it to the glass pane and the interior walls with a soft cloth and let it work for 5 minutes. Then wipe it with a damp, soft cloth until the residue has completely disappeared. You can of course also use this product to clean the small baking trays and the rack.

Cleaning the mini oven Step 3: Cleaning the outside

To clean the external surfaces, we recommend using a soft, damp cloth with soapy water. If you're dealing with more stubborn stains, you can mix the following together for the exterior surfaces: a little warm water, a little dishwashing liquid and a dash of vinegar. This should put an end to even stubborn stains. Be careful not to come into contact with the heating elements as this could damage the device and put the user in potential danger. When cleaning, do not use the scouring side of the sponge, only use soft materials. Allow the surfaces and internal surfaces to dry completely before reconnecting the plug and using the device.

Now that the good piece is shining again inside and out, follow a few care instructions so that you don't have to put in quite as much effort next time.

Distance to the wall

Keep an eye on the distance between your device and the kitchen wall. This must be a few centimeters to ensure optimal air circulation and to prevent possible stains on the kitchen wall. Check the distance regularly, as the small mini oven is often pushed to the side, for example when wiping the kitchen counter.

Put foil underneath, or not?

To prevent deposits and dirt, many people use aluminum foil on the bottom of the mini oven. Some snacks prepared in it may cause fatty deposits or other contamination. Since aluminum foil is suspected of contaminating food with aluminum, this is not recommended for reasons of common sense.

Tip: Instead, use the small baking tray that comes with it on the lowest level of the mini oven. It catches any crumbs or splashes of grease and you can then easily wash it off with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. If you do decide to use aluminum foil, be careful not to cover the heating elements. This can lead to overheating. For this reason, the crumb tray of the toast element should not be wrapped with aluminum foil.

Stay tuned!

It would be excessive to clean the mini oven after every use. However, as a guideline, aim to wipe it and empty the crumb tray once a week. So that the good piece doesn't have to live out its existence as a neglected eyesore on the kitchen counter, but rather invites you to prepare a snack with its shine.
