  • Pack smaller items or clothing items in your sweaters to save space. This can be your underwear or undershirts, as well as toiletries.
  • Another strategic and well-known option is to use vacuum bags or thin paper instead of bags. You can also pack the sweaters in trash bags, then suck out the air and tie them. There are also many other space-saving options available these days, such as packing cubes and similar compressing bags.
  • To reduce the space required in your suitcase, you can of course also use the compression belts. To do this, you will need to fold your sweaters and stack them on top of each other as usual, before wrapping the straps around the stack and tightening them as tightly as possible.
  • Another sophisticated strategy is to simply put on voluminous items of clothing in winter and travel with them. This will keep you warm at the same time and allow more space for other luggage.

There are a few options available if you want to fold bulky sweaters to save space in your suitcase. If you master proper folding techniques, your clothes will wrinkle in less noticeable places and look better when unpacked. To do this, follow the steps described below.

  • When packing a sweater horizontally, you can first place it face down on a flat surface.
  • Then start with the right side by folding it towards the middle along the neckline. The folded edge should start right at the edge of the neckline.
  • First, you should smooth out any uneven areas with your hands so that wrinkles do not form.
  • After that, continue with the right sleeve by folding it down. When doing this, make sure that the edge of the sleeve lines up perfectly with the folded edge of the sweater. Don't forget to smooth the surface again before repeating the previous steps with the left side.
  • Then try to fold the sweater in half precisely and flatten it out again.
  • The last thing you have to do is turn the garment over, straighten it again and finally fold the sweater to save space in your suitcase.
  • However, when it comes to luggage, it is better to pack voluminous clothing vertically.

If you have cardigans that are longer, as well as buttons, belts, fringe or open front, you can do the following:

  • Fold the buttoned cardigan following the steps above, only after buttoning it up.
  • If the knitted fabric is open at the front, you should first lay it face up and fold it in half lengthwise.
  • You can then bring the two sleeves back while making sure they remain smooth.
  • Depending on the length, you can fold such clothes either in half or in thirds and even quarters to save space.

  • First, lay the hoodie face down flat on the floor or table.
  • Then lift the hood up and let it stay that way for now.
  • After that, choose one sleeve and fold it straight in half before doing the same with the other.
  • Now grab the left edge of the hoodie and fold it a few centimeters so that there is an even line from the hood to the hem.
  • Then repeat this process on the right side. In all previous steps you should smooth out the wrinkles so that you keep them to a minimum.
  • Once you're done, your garment should form a long rectangle.
  • First, grab the bottom side and fold the sweater up twice until the middle section meets the hood.
