Nobody wants to go to the toilet and find that the toilet is clogged. Maybe you tried to flush and the water level rose at an alarming rate, or your child threw his rubber ducky into the bowl and it got stuck in the drain. There are many ways your toilet can become clogged. The most important thing is that you know what to do when it happens. Here are a few effective tricks you can try!
Nobody likes when the toilet is clogged. Before you call a professional, try these tips to unclog your toilet with or without a plunger. Many tricks use products you already have in your bathroom.
The suction cup is a very effective weapon
The most common method for clearing clogs is to immerse the toilet. To do this you need the tried and tested plunger. Make sure there is enough water in the bowl for the plunger to suck before clearing the clog. If not, you'll need to add some more. Then you should do the following:
- Insert the suction cup into the toilet drain hole.
- Now move it back and forth and try to push the blockage down the drain.
Notice: The suction cup should be used with caution. For a successful immersion, it is not the strength that is important, but the correct technique. The key to this is to cover the entire drain hole in the toilet bowl with the plunger plug. If you do it right, a moderate amount of pressure is enough and the toilet will clear again in most cases.
For severe constipation – dry detergent and bleach
For stubborn clogs, sometimes you need to loosen them up a bit before the immersion works. Bleach and dry detergent can help clear the clog. What you need:
- A bucket of hot water
- 480 ml bleach
- 240 ml soap powder
Now that you have your supplies, it's time to clear the clog.
- Carefully pour the soap powder and bleach into the bowl.
- Add the hot water to the bowl.
- Leave it on for 15-30 minutes.
- Try diving again.
Notice: If your bowl is full of water after several attempts at rinsing, you may need to remove some of it before adding the mixture. Gloves are your best friend, especially when the water is dirty.
A milder option – salt and baking soda
You're looking for a more natural remedy than the bleach cocktail. You can try baking soda and salt to break up the clog and unclog the drain. However, this will take a little longer. To get started you need:
- 120g salt
- 120 g Backpulver
- 1.5 liters of boiling water
Before pouring anything into the bowl, make sure you remove enough water so that it doesn't overflow. Then follow these simple steps:
- Pour the salt and baking powder into the bowl.
- Lower them to the floor.
- Gently cover them with the boiling water.
- Let it stand for several hours. Overnight is probably best.
- Dip it well.
