When it comes to architecture, Japan has long been one of the leaders. The traditional architectural style in Japan is considered a precursor to Millennialism and inspired revolutionary architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and many others. This style is by no means outdated, as this guest house by the Chinese architectural firm BLUE proves. The small guest house is located in Kyoto, Japan and was created after renovating an old house. When furnishing in the Japanese style, tradition meets modernity and the result is a cozy, timeless interior.
The guesthouse is quite small, with only two floors and a small garden. However, the clever use of space creates a feeling of spaciousness. The effect is achieved primarily through the low-lying seating furniture, which is typical for theJapanese housesand make the ceilings appear higher.
Before the renovation the interior was in a very bad condition. Nevertheless, some furnishing elements were retained, such as the wooden beam ceilings. They play a big role in the new interior design and are complemented by matching Shoji sliding doors. The Shoji have a modern design, but have the typical geometric shape of the construction. From the garden to the internal stairs, every single part of the furnishings is made with attention to detail in the Japanese style of living. You can see the effect in the pictures.
Another interesting feature of the Japanese style guesthouse is the passageway that directly connects the street to the garden. A glass door lets in daylight and offers a view of the peaceful courtyard. There are skylights above the passage that provide additional light and in the evening the corridor is indirectly lit from below. The indirect lighting provides a modern touch and shows the way to the garden.
Green marble is the latest trend on Pinterest
Marble is a popular material among architects, designers and design enthusiasts. It is mostly used to cover large areas, especially for floor coverings or in wet rooms. Green marble is an exclusive material with an opulent effect. It often appears as a small and attractive accent
The traditional Japanese style is also the focus of the outdoor area. The small Japanese garden behind theGuesthouseis quiet and conveys the popular Zen flair. A small gravel path between the stones leads to the tea house, typical of every Japanese house.
