“House and Object” Wohntrends 2018
Eco-friendly design
This year, perhaps much more than in previous seasons, willthe emphasis on eco-friendly designsplaced. With the idea of a sustainable concept in mind, 6 model houses were presented during the furniture fair. In each house, renowned designers dealt with various topics: the choice of materials, child labor in developing countries, recycling, veganism, and the responsibility that both manufacturers and buyers have for preserving nature. The trend towards a purist living environment was clearly noticeable during the trade fair. According to the motto “Less is more”, the Muuto collection, for example, comes to the fore. With their expressive silhouette and at the same time discreetly restrained color scheme, the brand's furniture and lighting are real quick-change artists that can be showcased in various interiors.
Restrained color palette
When it comes to color trends, this year the numerous designers have once again taken inspiration from nature - muted natural tones such as olive green, cream, ivory, nude and blush together with bright yellow, blue and orange round off the color palette of the season. Although purple was crowned the Pantone color for 2018, it faded into the background during the exhibition and served more as an accent. The seating was in pink orMustard yellownot uncommon. Colorful dishes and cutlery
Inspired by Japanese cuisine, where the color of the plates matches the food, sets in different colors were presented during the furniture fair. Even in 2019, you don't need to be put off by colorful crockery and cutlery - they will continue to make a splash on our dining tables. Not only the color, but also the shape is new for autumn - the slightly worn look and the signs of wear of the plates, their irregular shape, imitating hand-made production - the new collections bring a romantic touch from the past.
Native houseplants are making a comeback
For a long time, exotic plants such as palm trees were present in almost every living area. This year, native flowers and perennials are making a comebackyour own four walls- on the one hand, because they can stay on the terrace not only in summer but also in the cool autumn, and on the other hand because, according to the sustainability trend, they prove to be an environmentally friendly alternative to exotic ferns. Hydrangeas and roses are among the most popular flowers and can now also add a natural touch to your interior.
It's not just the potted plants that spice up the interior - wallpaper is often printed with natural motifs. In its latest collection, the manufacturer Rebel Walls offers wallpapers with breathtakingly beautiful and surrealistic images of trees, birds and even entire landscapes.
Comfort comes first
The motto this year, especially when it comes to upholstered furniture, is “comfort”. Not only the numerous sofas and coaches, but also the armchairs and upholstered dining chairs should be comfortable - this year, however, the emphasis is not on the ergonomic frame, but on the choice of fabric for the upholstery.Soft velvet fabricprovides cozy warmth in the cold winter months. In combination with metal legs in a copper look, the slightly shimmering fabric looks particularly elegant. Pictured above - Michael Murphy's design attracts attention with its sculptural form.
Ethno Eclectic
This year, interior designers from all over the world were able to exchange ideas and look for new influences during the furniture fair. The mix-and-match ethnic trend may be precisely due to this multicultural milieu. Handwoven textiles from South America,Tables made of driftwoodz from Africa, oriental kilims and lampshades inspired by the Japanese art of origami form eclectic ensembles with unmistakable charm.
The textiles play the main role
Hand-woven textiles give the interior that certain something. The structured decorative cushions and patterned bedspreads from local manufacturers give the room character and add a homely touch to purist interiors. Combine textures and fabrics to create effective contrast. Color-coordinated knitwear, fur and soft wool go together very well.
Retro touch in the Art Deco style of the 50s
This year, the retro living style remains relevant - design classics look particularly good in vintage furnishings. Of course, the wallpaper in Art Deco style should not be missing in the room. Their elaborate patterns in dark brown and gold correspond perfectly with the lounge chair with a curved shape from the 1950s. Timelessly elegant and yet somehow modern.
