Up to and including the fourth month, breast milk is completely sufficient for your baby. In general, you can breastfeed as long as you and your baby want, because breast milk contains all the necessary nutrients and important antibodies that your child needs for health. Only then do you begin to gradually introduce new foods into your meal plan.

Sweet potato baby porridge

Apples and pears

You will need one fruit each, which you will both peel and dice. First cook the apple pieces for two minutes and then add the pear. After about 10 minutes, both fruits should have softened and can be pureed in a blender. The porridge can sit in the fridge for three days or be frozen for up to three months. If necessary, add a little more water or breast milk to the porridge.

with mango and banana

Baby porridge recipes with mango are also delicious and fruity. Additionally, you will need a ripe banana for this recipe. Both fruits are peeled. The flesh of the mango is cut along the core and cut into smaller pieces like the banana. For this puree, the fruit does not need to be cooked first. They are pureed directly in the blender. You can dilute the porridge again with water or breast milk.

Oatmeal porridge with dried plums

Yogurt and berries

It is particularly delicious with yogurt. They are suitable from 7 months of age. You need 125g strawberries and 125g blueberries, which you then serve with whole milk yoghurt. The berries are pureed and then sieved through a fine sieve into a small pot. Cook for 5 minutes until the juice thickens. Stir some berry puree into the yogurt and feed it to your baby.

Tomato baby food with red lentils

Tomatoes should not be fed before the eighth month. The ingredients for four to six servings are 1/2 onion, 2 carrots, 1 garlic clove, 1/2 cup red lentils, 200 g tomatoes, 200 ml vegetable stock, 1 tbsp tomato puree, 5 basil leaves, 2 tbsp parmesan and 1 tbsp olive oil. Put all the chopped ingredients except the parmesan in a pot and cook until the vegetables are soft. Puree with a hand blender and add the Parmesan. If the baby porridge is still too coarse, you can puree it further.

Spinach, chickpeas and sweet potato

Peas are also one of the most popular variants. You can combine these with spinach. Get a sweet potato, a can of peas and baby spinach. Place the unpeeled and chopped potatoes with the cut side down on baking paper and roast them in the oven for 35 to 45 minutes at 220 degrees. In the meantime, bring water to the boil in a saucepan and cook the spinach in steam for 5 minutes. The finished potato is peeled and pureed with the remaining ingredients.

Broccoli

Peel and dice a potato and cook for 6 minutes. Add the shredded broccoli and cook for another 4 minutes or until softened. Puree the broccoli, potatoes and cheddar cheese in a blender and this version of baby food recipes is ready to serve. If necessary, add some water to dilute.

Cauliflower

The washed and peeled nectarine and the shredded cauliflower are steam cooked over boiling water and covered. This takes about 7 minutes. The cauliflower should be soft by the end. Finally, all you have to do is puree the ingredients. If necessary, dilute with water or breast milk.

Paprika

You need half a cup of semolina, 2 peeled carrots in slices, 2 tablespoons of fennel seeds, 3 tablespoons of parmesan cheese and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Place 4 cups of water, the fennel seeds and carrots in a pot. Wrap the fennel seeds in a clean piece of cloth beforehand so that they only release their aroma into the water. Cook about 20 minutes. Then remove the seeds. Puree the rest with a hand blender and then add the semolina. Finally, add the Parmesan and mix everything together well. The baby food is ready. Depending on the baby's age, you can also leave out some ingredients.

Couscous

Couscous is suitable for a wide variety of recipe ideas and can therefore be combined with any vegetables. Simply prepare couscous as usual or as described on the packaging. Then you can mix it in a blender with puree made from zucchini, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli or combinations.

Baby food made from cookies

You can buy baby food made from cookies, but home-made is still the best, isn't it? Here is a variant for baby porridge recipes with biscuits: Put 200 ml whole milk and 50 g biscuits in a saucepan. As soon as the mixture comes to the boil, you can add any pureed fruit or quark. Mix everything together well and serve the finished porridge.

It is also prepared similarly with rusks. Crumble 30g of wholemeal rusks by placing them in a bag and mashing them with a meat mallet. In a saucepan on the stove, warm 150 ml milk and 30 ml water. Then add the rusks, stir a few times and remove the pot from the heat to let it cool down. Once the porridge has cooled down to the point of serving, you can refine it again with any fruit puree.

Rote Beth

Baby porridge recipes with beetroot can also be very tasty. You will need a medium sized beetroot, a medium sized potato, turmeric powder, cumin powder and asafoetida. You should only use the spices when your baby is 8 months or older. Wash and peel the vegetables and cut them into slices. Cook them in the pressure cooker with 3 to 4 tablespoons of water. You'll need 8 ounces of diced beef, two medium-sized peeled and mashed sweet potatoes, two cups of beef broth, and 1 tablespoon of fresh, mashed thyme. Bring all ingredients to a boil in a saucepan and simmer over low heat for 25 to 35 minutes. Then everything is pureed in a blender. If the puree is not thin enough, you can add a little more broth.
