Gather all the necessary ingredients and supplies at least a week before the big day. You also need to start preparing two days in advance.
Preparation:
One or better two days before the birthday, roll out the wings from fondant or gum paste to a thickness of 1 mm and cut them into shape with the gum paste knife. For the antennae, take a handful of the yellow fondant and portion it into two equal-sized balls. Then take two 15 cm long wooden cocktail sticks, wrap them with black fondant and smooth the surface. Leave 4 cm free at the bottom. Allow the wings and antennae to dry.
On the same day, preheat the oven to 180 degrees, prepare the dough for the cake and pour the finished mixture into a dome mold greased with baking spray. Bake the Mayan Bee cake for 45 – 60 minutes, remove and let cool on a cake rack. Meanwhile, cut a circle out of the green fondant. Then place the circle on a cake stand or cake plate; it should completely cover the cake plate. In a bowl, beat 200 g soft butter without salt with 450 g sugar and 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar until fine with the whisk of the mixer. Spread the buttercream on the cake and put it in the fridge for an hour.
Take the cooled Mayan Bee cake out of the fridge and cover it with fondant. Wait 10-15 minutes and then decorate the cake first with the yellow and then with the black buttercream. Additionally, use the cookie cutter to cut out several flowers from the gum paste and stick them to the green fondant using the edible glue.
Then cut out the eyes from the black and white fondant and attach them to the cake with the edible glue.
